I don’t understand the purpose of free dental screenings. It seems to me that people who get a free dental screening can’t afford to see a dentist, so what good will it do to tell someone they have bad teeth when they can’t do anything about it?

Yeah, seems that new dentists don’t want a practice but to become millionaires instead. The cost of a dental procedure has risen insanely in this area.

Many locations have resources for free or reduced-cost dental care for those that can’t afford/don’t have insurance, that free screening can be used to determine if something else is needed.

@ Rob, can you name them? About 10 years ago I looked into one and was placed on a waiting list. Well, here it is 10 years later and I still haven’t heard from them. Anytime there is free health or dental care there will be an extremely long waiting list.

its a sales tactic, and also, you must conform to societies standards of having perfect teeth and being a beautiful person.Baa baaa.More mind control,so you feel dumb or guilty that you don’t have perfect teeth. Why do shops offer “free brake inspection” Same reason.to get your business.
Even if the county offers you free dental care they get money from the state and feds for every person they treat. The motive is always money. You’re in California.

@Dawg. If you haven’t called anyone regarding your request in 10 years you must not have needed it much. I agree with Rob. If funds are an issue they know if someone can help at different levels and can make recommendations. Sometimes people dont even know what they qualify for.

Curious, does anyone know, when the CDC threw the darts at the Flu charts, which strains of Flu they are hoping are actually going to be active and treating this year?

Asking for a friend.

@Commonsensenor FYI… The CDC doesn’t “throw darts”. They look at what’s going on around the world including countries like Australia, where flu season just ended, to determine what strains are most prevalent and develop the vaccines accordingly. To imply the CDC is just guessing at things is wrong and does the agency a great disservice.

Thank you for clarifying that they are trying their best at making the best educated guess they can.

My doctor says it’s 70% effective for 70% of the people. Not gonna hurt myself trying to figure out what that means, but I get one every year and it keeps me from getting the flu 7 out of 10 years.

Can’t even do it…uggg

You may not realize how tiny the needles they use nowadays are, Simonpure. Injections sure are different than they used to be.

It has nothing to do with the size if the needle. It is all in how the injection is delivered, and apparently those who are delivering it don’t know the correct way to do it. It should be painless and should not leave a bruise. But, increasingly, that’s not happening. So, I can see why people just decide to skip it.

The last bloodwork I had done left an inch and a half bruise at the sight … and I’m not surprised. It was a very painful blood draw. Who is training these people, Mengele? Put a union member in charge of healthcare and what do you get? A brutish healthcare..

Thanks Silva…it’s a mental thing with me. Had it my whole life and real bad too.

Go little sheep go.I will just keep washing my hands regularly.
