A 70-year-old man disarmed and detained an 18-year-old who threatened him with a knife during a road-rage incident on Concord Ave. in Concord today, according to the Concord Police Department.
The suspect, an unidentified 18-year-old Martinez resident, was driving and got upset when the victim, a 70-year-old Walnut Creek resident nearly collided with him. Police say the suspect threw an energy drink can at the victim through an open window, and the victim followed the suspect to try and obtain a license plate when suddenly the suspect stopped his car in the middle of the road.
A fight ensued and the 18-year-old pulled a knife on the victim, but was disarmed and physically detained by the victim, according to police.
The suspect was placed under arrest for the assault and elder abuse.
No major injuries were reported.
Police have not released the name of the suspect.

Can’t agree more with your comment re: don’t get out of your car. An unarmed person getting out of a car is greatly at risk with a perp who has a knife, baseball bat, or gun. Or a perp strung out on meth.

I don’t know what the 18 year-old’s name is, but I an tell you that his new nickname is “70”!
Maybe this will teach the 18 year old to have a little more respect for his elders! I know 60-80 year olds who lift, do cross fit, ride bikes and swim on a regular basis and are in better shape than most people. They also have a mind set that their not taking crap from anybody. Guess the 18 year old met one these so called “old folks.”
