Walnut Creek CERT Needs Your Help
We need volunteers to help get more residents signed up for WCALERT, our new Nixle-based emergency alert system. Our project will teach people on how to get Nixle alerts by texting WCALERT to 888-777 by passing out flyers with info on the system. This is a critical way for the public to get emergency info on anything from wildfires to road closures.
What is Community Service Day?
Make Walnut Creek shine by being part of Community Service Day 2019, set for Saturday, October 12.
This year’s lineup features more than 50 half-day projects, including projects at nearly all of our public schools, at libraries, in our parks, gardens and creeks, and in the downtown. In addition, many non-profits are sponsoring projects — from Animal Rescue Foundation to the Historical Society. And, there will be two food drives — one in Rossmoor, and the other community-wide.
Community Service Day kicks off with a free pancake breakfast from 7:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. at Heather Farm Park Community Center, courtesy of the Lions Clubs of Walnut Creek.
For a list of projects and online registration, visit www.walnut-creek.org/service. Those without web access may call the Community Service Day hotline at 925-256-3505.
