Authorities Identify Pedestrian Who Was Struck And Killed On I-680 In Walnut Creek

A pedestrian fatally struck by a vehicle on Interstate Highway 680 near Walnut Creek early Saturday morning has been identified as 52-year-old Thomas Jancek, according to the Contra Costa County coroner’s office.

The crash was reported around 1 a.m. on northbound Highway 680 near Treat Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A Sig-alert was issued, and all lanes of traffic were temporarily closed while investigators cleared the scene.

Details of the subsequent investigation were not immediately available Monday morning.

Jancek was a resident of Walnut Creek, according to the coroner’s office.

Boyfriend and I drove by minutes after it happened and had to swerve to avoid his body. We are so curious as to why he was running across the freeway in the first place. Our sympathies to the family.

You saved a boatload of PoPo time by the swerve.

It costs too much to get to the GG Bridge nowadays.

Crazy there was a night i was driving home and at last second i seen this black guy wearing all black run right in front of me by the north main st exit…he got lucky that night because i was going about 75-80 mph…people should lay of them drugs…
