Cold Stone Creamery, located at 60 Crescent Dr. in Pleasant Hill, was closed this week after inspectors from the Contra Costa County Department of Environmental Health say they found the following:

  • Observed live nymph cockroach crawling on counter next to jar ingredients for ice cream.
  • Observed buildup between counter equipment in front, floor corner surfaces in office/front prep area/rear area/floor sink.
  • Observed gaps and opening on ceiling above water heater and outside restroom area.

This is the second time in the past year this Cold Stone location has been closed. In December of 2017, they were closed after inspectors found a cockroach infestation.

Did Tower Grille reopen yet?

Worth visiting again. Just ate there recently and no issues. I like the atmosphere and the staff is very customer service orientated. Health Inspectors are doing their due diligence and we have to continue to support our local businesses.

How much longer will this place stay in business? With 2 closures in 9 months, I think it will close soon, much like Johnny Rockets and Original Pancake House.

…and they’re pet friendly too.

Wait! Those weren’t chocolate sprinkles on my scoop of vanilla?

How is Coldstone still running?

They were a thing for about a year before everyone realized they could get much better ice cream for far less money.

Where do you get much better ice cream for far less money?

most any grocery store

Not the same.

Darn it! I have 2 Cold Stone gift cards that I was going to use !!!

Cold stone is overrated, overpriced and just plain sucked anyways. Good riddance.

Worked at this Coldstone in high school. Guess it’s gone down hill in the past 10 years. The owner was so anal about everything. Never encountered any bugs or rodents throughout the year I worked there. So crazy.

I almost ate there the other day! Guess I lucked out!

The location near our house in Clayton closed about 6 months ago… sounds like the Pleasant Hill location is next.

@Bob and S – Which brands of ice cream are “better” than Cold Stone and why? Cold Stone claims to make a super-premium ice cream that is neither hard-packed nor soft-serve and contains 12% to 14% butterfat.

Cold Stone ice cream also includes the services of folding in the mix, cockroach nymphs and rodent droppings for example, on a chilled granite slab (the “Cold Stone”) and then presenting the stuff to us in a single serving container.

A person can make the claim “they could get much better (fill in the blank) for far less money” about anything. It’s simply a baseless claim unless you back it up with facts.

You’d do well on open mic’ night at the improve.

Personally, I’m a fan of mint chip or drumstick ice creams by Dreyer’s. But most any store label is pretty good…. Blue Bunny Brand is tasty as well.

Tillamook for one.

Thanks – I have a project for 2019. 🙂

Guffaw! Snort!

And I’m sure there an impenetrable wall between thee and chipotle so I’m sure there NO bugs there. Not!
