Geez! Time to close up shop for good!
Yes, I’m surprised they’re still open. I wonder what it takes for a restaurant to be closed, especially if it seems that the people running the restaurant don’t care.
Gross! And the parking lot is full as soon as they open up again.
WTH!
Exactly right. What does it take for people to realize that New Lims Garden doesn’t care about you and wants only your money. Is the food really that good? You wouldn’t eat at your Mother’s house if she had these conditions in her kitchen. So stop supporting restaurants who don’t give a fcuk about you and your health.!!
Close them permanently
I just threw up in my mouth a little.
I bet if you drive by New Lims Garden this weekend. You will see it full of people who most likely do not know that there could be rat 🐀droppings or roach pieces in the food they ordered.
Rat soup.
The place has always been a festering pit. Just the smells emanating form their kitchen are enough to make you gag.
“1 rodent dropping on the cutting board on the preparation table”
Gross.
At home from Garden, to Kitchen, to table.
They do need to be closed down permanently. Sadly, not everyone who goes there is aware of the violations, and customers will continue to dine there. Unless you read about there violations here, or pull into the parking during one of their closures, how would you know?
I agree this information needs to be more publicly accessible. You can check out a specific restaurants health department record online… if you know how to navigate to the proper page on their outdated government website. I check it before I go somewhere because I am a very picky eater.

How do they stay in business?
I’ve never seen one, but do they get a big red F sign in the window?
If not, they should.
Sad! Love their food, but don’t want to go back because of all of the infestations.
Don’t they post a sign saying failed by the door? I saw one at one place that said whatever it is that is between pass and fail. That was enough for me not to go in or think of going there at all.
We make you sick long time!
Thank you Contra Costa County Environmental Health Department.
Seconded!
How many shut downs are you allowed before you get permanently closed? This is disgusting.
That place looks dirty when you walk in, would not want to know how the kitchen looks like.
I am amazed how people can overlook a dirty restaurant-front and still want to eat there.
Thank god for the health department
Has anyone ( meaning the health inspector ) said that 3 strikes and your out?????
Most of the people that eat here are much older, and probably unaware that this kind of information exists probably. The health department should close it permanently not just let them reopen, specially since they’ve had so many closures.
Now I’m curious. Does the County Health Department actually have the authority to permanently shut down a repeat offender? If they don’t, who does have that authority, and what is the process?
I know that Walnut Creek recently shut down a bar for being a public nuisance. For health code violations, I wonder if the city or county has to implement the shut-down process.
We’ve liked this place a long time. Too bad.
This is sounding like the Billy Martin/George Steinbrenner Lite Beer commercial from the 70’s
City: New Lim you’re closed
New Lim: Again?
They have the OPEN sign on just now. Closed? It doesn’t look like they are complying.
They were closed on May 9 and re opened on May 10 per the information the Mayor included.
Maybe Claycord should post the story in Mandarin or Cantonese.
LOL
Couple years ago we straight up opened our beef and broccoli and it had a little baby roach right on freaking top.
Never been back.
Baby roach? Maybe they could change their name to New LIMBS.
Way to kill a local mom and pop business by publicly shaming them
Maybe they have changed their practices
But they will likely be unable to survive partly due to this public post shaming them
Way to support your community
This is probably the owner 😂
give me a break have you ever walked by there back door ? they have been closed 3 times for same violations mom and pop don’t care about rat crap on the cutting boards and you want to feel sorry for them .
@ LL
Are you kidding me??!! Closed three times in 9 months plus multiple others through the years! You go right ahead and support your filthy mom and pop crap hole. They obviously don’t care or they would have cleaned that dump up along time ago. There is NO excuse for a restaurant to be dirty!! Infestations can be controlled by professionals. Maybe they too cheap!
They need shaming !
they had three opportunities to clean up the filth and didn’t do it.
Shame on them!
this is to support the community…….so nobody gets sick!
they had a few chances to “change their practices” and obviously are not willing. Simply gross!
Public shaming? How about public safety? The owners have had multiple chances to clean up their act. This is of their own doing.
There’s always one in the bunch.
There is a standard in the industry that all restaurants should follow to not make the public sick and possibly kill a few in the process. I have no sympathy. Many people never get to go back into the kitchen to see how the food is prepped and handled and how the kitchen is kept sanitary and up to health standards. Hantavirsuses: Internal bleeding is the hallmark symptom of these viruses, which are carried by rodents, but are transmissible by food and airborne contact. Doctors used to think infections couldn’t move person-to-person, but recent research shows that’s probably wrong, so (in theory) a sick rat in a trap could potentially infect an employee, who could in turn give it to customers before their appetizers even arrived. Any food is at risk if it is not stored in rodentproof containers, one of the many reasons the DOH requires storage in rodentproof containers at least six inches off the floor. Listeriosis: This bacterial infection can be found in rodent excrement and can, in the worst cases, cause blood infection or meningitis. It can grow at low temperatures, and a study conducted in Tokyo — another city with a large urban rat population — found that nearly 7 percent of black rats roaming city buildings are carriers. Leptospirosis: You get this bacterial infection from foods or liquids splashed with rodent urine. It doesn’t matter what kind of rodent, as long as the pee stays moist on the food. Nine in ten people get rough but manageable symptoms (headaches, fever, diarrhea), making it look deceptively flulike. For one infected person in ten, though, it can cause “multiorgan failure.” Hungry now????
How do they stay open? Who in their right mind would eat there?
They just need to tear down and rebuild that place..and make
It a good place to eat….panda express gets good clean health
Code inspections….
B.
Panda Express is very good 👍. And the kitchen is not hidden, you can see the chefs cooking the food.
Tell me how could they possibly get rid of there rodent infestation in 1 day Shame on the health dept. for letting them reopen !!!
Third time in 9 months? How many more times is it going to take for them to change their practices? Way to support your community by feeding us cockroaches and rat s**t.
Rats a Roni the frisco treat!
Sodom and Gomorrah they can be beat.
AKA SF
Disgusting. I stopped going there the last time they were closed down. Like I said before, they have a leaking ceiling and there were drops of water dripping onto one of their tables! Last time I was there they had a ton of cardboard boxes stacked in an area near the entrance. No wonder they have rodents! Close them down for good. I can’t believe people still go there. Try Jade Garden on YV Road and Oak Grove Rd they are good.
Who else remembers when that was an Arby’s?
Also, Hunan, the chinese restaurant just a little further down Clayton rd, was an A&W.
Arby’s and A&W those were the days… 🙁
Damn, now I want a root beer ice cream float!
Hunan was good. I will never go there.
Ummm that’s just nasty! I will never eat at any of these establishments even if they are reopened.
How come Human didn’t have a sign posted that I could find?
A and w…was the bomb..i still got my muggs..from there from
Like 83 ish… I use them for soda ..there still in my freezer
Arby.s..hell yeah..
Even miniature golf after a root beer float
Sweet…..
B.
How can the health dept only close them down for ONE DAY? I doubt they fixed everything they were supposed to. I am sure they still have a bunch of cardboard boxes in the entry way also. How about some rat droppings to go with that orange chicken? Yum!
Went there a couple of years ago and never went back. Glad I trusted my instincts.
Places like this are so far off in fss. they don’t even have a clue. They need to hire a worker knowledgeable in fss. But then again maybe they don’t want to change. Maybe someone passed the rest but never put into practice.
Chef Ramsey needs to come in a do a makeover show. Imagine the yelling and screaming, meat cleavers flying everywhere…
