With the amount of crime at BART, it sure wouldn’t hurt.
It might help curb some of the violence, and it might even prevent a gate jumper now and then, but unless we start electing DA’s that will prosecute and send the bad guys to jail, it’s a waste of time and money.
Absolutely!!!!!!!!!!! Yes, it would drive up the cost of using BART but paying that extra will one day save a life which is much more valuable than the cost to ride BART.
They’re not now?! yes – of course! … news had it $350K of BART sponsorship went for ONE person! They certainly have enough funding WITHOUT asking more more….
There should be two kinds of BART police: one group that patrols the stations outside the ticket barriers (the station and parking lot); and another group that patrols inside the ticket barriers. This second group would be roving – they’d be on the platforms and on the trains. And they’d travel in pairs, not solo.

The more police presence the better…..But they also need to be on the trains as well as at the stations. However there would still be a key piece of the puzzle missing and that would be actually prosecuting the lawbreakers and making them deal with the consequences of breaking the law.
Right now in Contra Costa County that is definitely an issue but so many refuse to acknowledge that the way they are voting is contributing to the overall problem. Sadly that seems to be an almost insurmountable issue in this county.

one at every station gate, only let paying customers get into the system. Trains would not longer smell of un-bathed people, urine and feces. It would seem safer without all those people that use the train as a home.
One? No; it would take too long for an assistance Officer to arrive for help..

It wasn’t always like this. The only thing I can figure is drugs did this. Too many people and the government with a liberal attitude maybe.
There should be an officer on every train. It’s not like they are patrolling the cities. They are BART Poluce!

There were hearings last week which revealed that Planned Parenthood received $80 billion in covid relief funds.
Illinois received $5.1 billion for CRT.
How many officers does BART currently have? How many are on duty at any given time? Where are they normally distributed now? If putting one (or more) at every station would increase operating costs (and fares), by how much?
