The “Water Cooler” is a feature on Claycord.com where we ask you a question or provide a topic, and you talk about it.
The “Water Cooler” will be up Monday-Friday in the noon hour.
Besides California, what’s your favorite state in the United States? Tell us why you like it so much.
Talk about it….
Hawaii is my favorite because it’s beautiful, and warm year-round. I love to go there during the holidays.
Oklahoma
I have relatives in Oklahoma…. all I seem to get on my phone are severe weather alerts! Alerts of heat to thunderstorms to hail the size of bowling balls to flooding to +80% humidity to the next stop, the Beautiful City of Oz!
Wyoming. The landscape is absolutely beautiful and next to Alaska is the least populated state. That doesn’t mean I would want to live there, the winters are too cold, but it’s a nice place to visit. My second choice would be Maine, and third is Vermont.
A second for Wyoming! It’s so spacious and beautiful.
Bliss
any high desert area
Oregon, pure air and water.
wow not one demifornia really lol
Hawaii yes because they actually hold true to what the state represents and
don’t allow entitled whiners to dirty the water so to speak
they still use straws for their drinks
they hold true to keeping their state clean
they keep up the maintenance baring lava flows and such
oprah lives there and not in demifornia …that should ring a bell with some
the state also thrives and does not allow corrupt politicians to bleed it dry
or drum up stupid laws like sacrificing man holes in favor of a few obsolete thinkers or rather glad handers
best part the people are awesome and friendly and don’t force letter designations or entitlement
viva Hawaii and all its charm and wisdom to stay true and not wither with corruption and a hell bent need to force a one party system through bullying and shaming and effigy beheading
Why did you have to make this political? Honestly, why?
@RandomTask – wow, just wow. You must be a blast to hang out with!
Do us all and jump on the pineapple express outta here to your dream state
I promise you @RANDOM TASK, you will survive if plastic straws are no longer available to you!
I don’t know how you can make such a promise… when you drink from a glass at a restaurant you are using a glass that has been used by hundreds… perhaps thousands of other people who might have God knows what kinds of diseases.
Oh sure, the restaurant washes the glasses… but maybe the dish washing machine ran out of sanitizer (10 ppm minimum in the final rinse).
Have a drink at the bar? Most bars only use the 3 sink method and the detergent water gets slopped over into the middle sink sanitizer and that gets slopped over into the clear rinse… but you should be ok…. maybe…. if the final rinse is changed often enough.
Well, ya made it this far….and now…. no straw?
Ohhh.. let’s have a peek at the rim of the glass when you get your drink (is that lipstick you see?) and are there any little specks of whatever it might be stuck on the glass?
Aren’r germs are invisible to the naked eye? Well…. you could have avoided putting your lips on that stuff anyway if you had used a straw.
Only downfall to Hawaii??! Hirono. Pure man hating, nutcase.
Oprah has a home in Montecito.
Idaho. Lots of beautiful scenery – beautiful mountains, great skiing, high desert areas, wildlife. Much lower cost of living, lower taxes, reasonable electiricity rates and no blackouts because its hot and people are using their air conditioners. Government isn’t busily figuring out ways to restrict your liberties and find more things to tax. Lower crime rates. Boise has theater, an art museum, an orchestra. No, the cultural things are not on the level of what you get here, but still not bad. I played in an orchestra in Idaho for years before I moved to California. Education – Idaho State University turns out pharmacists and pre-med and pre-dent students.
It’s just an overall good place to live.
I was married in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. Very beautiful country.
@ random task… whatcha waiting for? Move if you hate CA so much… please!
My favorite state is Alabama
It is illegal for a driver to be blindfolded while operating a vehicle in Alabama.
An Alabama State trooper pulls over a pickup truck on I-20. He says to the driver, “Got any ID?” The driver says, “Bout what?”
NC
Which part?….. maybe the coast (Southport, Holden Beach zone?) …. or up in the Blue Ridge or Great Smoky mountains (maybe Asheville or Blowing Rock?).
I was born on the coast just inland from Manteo and grew up in Raleigh….still love to visit friends and family there in North Carolina.
As you said, The Outer Banks to the Smokies and everywhere between. Enjoyed exploring the different areas and the people of N.C.It is sure different than Calif, polite people and things happen slower. What brought me there was my was interest in NASCAR, I was a Dale Earnhardt Fan #3.
Ahhhh….. North Wilkesboro bound, were you? My father used to save up all his little automobile problems until our next trip to the mountains…. would have the mechanic at a shop (near the bowling alley in that town) fix it while we ate lunch nearby. They know their cars!
The downside of actually living in NC is the humidity, the mold and mildew and the ubiquitous cockroaches. On the upside is the world’s best BBQ!
gma Jean
concordejet, love it
well if you didn’t know this state is a political satire
and the question was : Besides California, what’s your favorite state in the United States? Tell us WHY you like it so much.
everything wrong with this state is the political power that controls it.
one party no balance to keep it legit and delegate it and tax it
this state is a political bank for campaign so called contributions through our over taxed systems millions get lost and forwarded to campaigns ask kamala
IF YOU THINK lower police presence across the board and legalizing theft and a gas tax and a high speed train scam tax still on the books and being taken even though the project is dead …money from schools being taken by the gov to fund illegals …the DA pleading down every illegal alien case to misdemeanor and community service is ok then that’s great you’ll make great pets
Altered state.
Got stopped by an Alabama State Trooper, he said “Now you take this heah ticket book and you wrat eggzactly what I teh ya.”
LOL
I like Vermont a lot, especially in the fall. I travelled there with my Mom a lot before she passed to visit family, so it has a special place in my heart. I also like cooler climates.
I came to the US in 1967 as an au pair from Denmark. My au pair family lived in Westport Ct, where I lived for 2 years. I then moved to New York City, and between 1969 and 1974 I lived in New York off and on for 4 years. I spend a little more than a year in New Orleans, although the food was great, the weather was horrible, hot and humid most of the year, and the people seemed very backwards in the early seventies, compared to Denmark and the East Coast. My ex husband and I lived in Milwaukee for a few months in 1976 before being transferred to San Francisco. I would have to say Connecticut and California is my favorite. I will always have a soft spot for Westport Ct. I had a wonderful time, it was the late sixties, I was young and single I made lifelong friends there. After I got us to New York City I loved it. I love the California weather, the variety of nature, I’m especially found of Yosemite and the Gold Country, but also love the wine country, Tahoe, and the Coast line, there are no shortages of places to see and explore. I use to go into San Francisco a lot, North Beach, Union Street, would meet friends for drinks Friday night sometime we would go dancing later. I don’t party much anymore, also the City has changed, first off driving there is a nightmare now, to many street you can’t turn on to, I understand the homeless and crime is another factor, the few times I go to the City now, mostly around the Holidays I have not had any problems, but I hear enough on the news to understand a lot has changed the past 15-20 years.
LOL
CA is my least favorite State.
I would be happier in one of the less populated northern flyover states.
I cannot wait until I can leave.
South Carolina.
New Mexico-Land of Enchantment!
Colorado. Specially, Colorado Springs. Or west Texas. Or Bend Oregon. But I’ve actually half seriously, kinda sorta been thinking about what would it take to immigrate to Germany for 5-6-7 years. Pretty attractive idea the more I don’t think about it. Naw, I wouldn’t do it. Would I? . 🇺🇸✈️🇩🇪🤔
Glanmunchweiler! (Excuse spelling…. it’s between Ramstein Air Base and Kaiserslautern).
And color me GREEN with envy if you follow your heart on such a venture!
Florida especially with its beautiful beaches on both the Atlantic and gulf sides.
Favorite is Hawaii (specifically Kauai). We love the scenery, warm water and being on “island time.” We go there at least every other year. Number two is Oregon. We love the scenery and it’s easy to get to. We’ve been to Oregon something like 15 times in the last 10 years, most of those to Sisters (19 miles from Bend). We love the coast too. We aren’t leaving California, but if we did, it would likely be to Oregon. A favorite city is Charleston SC, a beautiful place. We’ve recently become fans of Manhattan as well and have been there twice in the last 10 months.
Get me outta Commiefornia it’s a toilet!
Utah, Texas, Tennessee, Montana
I must have a body of water or mountains nearby. Providence R.I. was nice, but the starkness around Tucson and the nearby mountains was also somehow attractive. Love the small town of Sweet Home, OR and its open, friendly people. Hate anywhere with nothing on the horizon, like the flat lands of Oklahoma, Texas, or the great lakes area.
My favorite is Oregon. I lived there for four years and I really miss it.
Any red state
Hawaii- love the sun, water & laid back attitude. Not a fan of Honolulu though- too many people!
Montana, the water is so clean. Its so beautiful no sales tax, and I can carry my pistol.
