Today’s questions (two questions):
1. What’s the longest you’ve ever waited to be seated at a restaurant?
2. What’s the longest you’ve ever waited for your food at a restaurant?
Talk about it.
About 45 minutes at a convention in Reno. Food was served in less that 15 minutes.
I usually make reservations, so I don’t have to wait. If they don’t take reservations, then I won’t go there. In most restaurants I’ve been to, the food is usually served in a timely manner.
I just waited 3 hours at Paula Deens restaurant in Tennessee. It was great. You put your name on the list and then go shopping and they text you when your table is ready.
3 hours shopping? No restaurant would be worth that for me….was the food there as good as I would think it should be (and of course low fat…)?
Longest wait was 1 hour to be seated for 24 people and we had reservations.
Place was nice and did visit it other times since the food was good.
Longest wait for food was 1 hour,…and the food wasn’t good at all.
Didn’t ever go back.
For question #1 it is a bit ambiguous cause there are lots of times they told us an hour or more and we would put our names in, go shopping, and come back so it was not inconvenient.
For question #2, we will wait for a long time, but if it gets too long or we see others who came in long after us are getting their dinners first, we just get up and walk out. Its kind of a family tradition. Oh, and don’t tell me I don’t understand cause I have worked in restaurants.
to be seated, maybe an hour, a number of times, but knew it going in and walked around, etc., killing time nicely. Longest wait for food was at a place in New Orleans, waited an hour or so, and food never came (friends with us received their meals). Kicker is, we went to the host and said we were leaving, and he graciously said he would not charge us for the glass of coke we ordered (other beverage was just water). I asked if he was kidding and we walked out.
Actively wait in the area to be called? Maybe an hourish. Waiting and having a call back?, 2+ hours, but that usually follows being able to walk around and go shopping so not a big deal.
Question 2 is a bit loaded for me, at a place where I’m just expecting the food to come at once, likely 45mins. Now with fine dining, it’s a purposely paced meal so you’re entire dining experience may be 1.5 to 2 hours long but you’ll be served 10+ dishes in that time. I personally love tasting menu’s as it really showcases the skill and creativity of the chef and is a reflection of what the restaurant is all about.
When the wait is too long, try mentioning that Andrew Jackson sent you.
I was thinking about this the other day when I saw a BUNCH of people waiting to get in Huckleberry’s.
I was thinking “are the waffles that good???”

2 hours at Dead Fish for a lousy meal with cutbacks. You now pay for bread and sides. They overbook for no shows and overcrowd like a can of sardines.. Servers don’t wear masks and the bartender was sneezing and coughing on the patrons.
AVOID!
I never wait at the French Laundry. Especially during a pandemic. You peasants might but I don’t. Do as I say not as I do.
