Police in Lafayette investigating thefts at a local school allegedly uncovered a pattern of burglaries across the Bay Area by the same suspect, the department said Monday. Earlier this month, someone entered two schools in Lafayette and stole multiple credit cards, according to police. Detectives eventually identified a possible suspect and his vehicle, which then led them to allegedly connecting him to burglaries in seven other cities and counties.

Lafayette detectives obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect for alleged credit card fraud, identity theft, and burglary.
On Friday, the Lafayette Police Department, in collaboration with police departments in Vacaville, Danville, and Dublin and the Marin County Sheriff’s Office executed search warrants at three different locations. The coordinated operation led to the successful arrest of Christopher Britton, 34, of Fairfield. He is currently being held in the Marin County Jail, the Lafayette Police Department said Monday. During the execution of the search warrants, investigators allegedly recovered significant evidence and items believed to be linked to the ongoing investigations.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with any information on this case is asked to contact detectives at (925) 283-3680 or (925) 299-3234. Tips can also be emailed to the Lafayette Police Department at 94549TIP@gmail.com.
