Have not used Uber, or most other ride provider.
Did a Taxi about 8 years ago from Concord Bart to our house coming from Oakland Airport.
We’ve been doing Park & Ride(s), …. works out good for us.
Then rent-a-car at airport location(s) while vacationing.

No, I’ve never used Uber or any ridesharing. It’s internet hitchhiking. You’re getting into the private vehicle with any Tom, Dick or Harry. Anything can happen including armed robbery, sexual assault, etc. At least with a taxi they’re employed by a company, and they have to return at the end of the day.
I have used both Uber/Lyft and Taxi’s. And originally Uber/Lyft were cleaner and Cheaper. Now the rideshares are no cheaper and in some cases more. I suspect Uber/Lyft’s business model was to force out Taxi’s and then predatorialy raise prices. The vetting of the drivers on the rideshares is horrible, so their drivers can be kind of sketchy. No thanks.

I have used taxis, Lyft, and uber and Waymo. I would never use taxis again for they are expensive. And taxis is dying due to share ride disruption.
Right now I use Lyft and Uber because it is cheap. Giving the fast changing in technology, self driving cars (like waymo, cruise, ect) will put Lyft and Uber out of business.

Nope, never have and never will use Uber or any other “service”. Uber drivers et/al, have no proof of their qualifications like s taxi driver does. Plus, one never knows what kind of creep you might get. Just not worth it.

Used Uber last month to get from Martinez Amtrak to Concord, and the service was good, car was clean, the driver not overly talkitive, and the price was not as high as I expected. Worked well for us.
I used Uber many times in several cities before the pandemic with no major problems. I have never used Lyft, but I don’t any specific reason, just haven’t. I have also used taxis when I had to, but I like the Uber/Lyft type apps better than calling a phone number and maybe getting an answer or not.

Why would anyone use a taxi?
You don’t know the price
You can’t see driver reviews
You are usually in a run down vehicle
I use Uber and Lyft, can’t wait to use Waymo as well.

It really wouldn’t matter for me whether it’s a tax or a rideshare, but I do like the convenience of the Uber and/or Lyft apps. I have been to foreign cities where the local taxis were using apps as well and it was as convenient.
