QUESTION: Should They Fix The Large Bump On Cowell Rd At Monument Blvd/Galindo St In Concord, Or Is The “Uneven Pavement” Sign Good Enough? (VIDEO)

Almost a year ago we talked about how the intersection of Cowell Rd & Monument Blvd/Galindo St was worse than it was before the upgrades. The road, and surrounding areas were upgraded as part of the $5-Million Monument Boulevard Class 1 Pathway project. However, when you reach the intersection, there’s a large bump in the roadway that wasn’t there before the “upgrades.” At the time, instead of actually fixing the large bump, they just added a sign that says “uneven pavement.” Walaa, problem fixed!

QUESTION: Do you think they should fix the road, or do you think the sign is good enough?

Put your DOGE unthinking cap on. (It looks like a spaghetti strainer but also comes with a large white rocket cone on top) The sign was and is a waste of money and so is “upgrading” the pavement. That “upgrade” was clearly an unthinking move. It’s painted lines for pedestrians and bicyclists, meaning evidence of DEI. Defund Concord’s Public Works department and deport the city council to El Salvador.

Not sure how making an intersection safe for pedestrians and cyclists links to DEI. It’s incompetence, plain and simple. But that’s what I’ve come to expect from a department that can only time traffic signals in a way that force us to stop at 80% of the lights in Concord.

To remove all the right turn lanes was very unneighborly of Concord and made people burn way more gas and cause more pollution too..When they removed the right turn lane at Systron and Monument they destroyed the last piece of an historic road that went around the cemetery back when Systron wasnt there and was no Monument ct because Monument crossed the railroad tracks and connected to Galindo that is now San Miguel rd.The original Sn Miguel rd is now the road that goes thru the center of the Bart maintenance yard and would empty out at Taylors wrecking yard onto Monument when it was there.

This was a downgrade. It’s like going from Windows98E to WindowsME. After that I had to upgrade people back to Windows98SE. Following the same principle. they should upgrade it back to before the downgrade.

it’s like going back to dial up..wait wait wait.

Whomever made it should fix it at their own costs. This was sloppy work.

I wonder if the uneven pavement sign would be considered an admission of guilt in a lawsuit against the city. It seems they are acknowledging an unsafe condition. I can certainly see any collisions or other vehicular crashes pursuing that line of thought.

BTW – who from the city “signed off” on that work anyway? If that is acceptable, then, did the city contract for an unsafe project? Or did the city just not inspect final work?

it was a “diverse” work crew so they are staying tight lipped and acting like typical Concord.

Another World Economic Forum project………Make Everyone MISERABLE in their cars so they’ll use puke-blic transporation, or ride a bike!!

That why chickens should not cross the road!

Of course it should be fixed …. by whoever did the lousy work to begin with at no cost to the city

Wait just a dang minute, all that work, paving and signal project
and it got screwed up ? ? ? ?
.
WHO in the city signed off on the plans ? ? ? ?
An who accepted the finished project.
.
Just a thought, next project stop by a lumber yard an pick up a LONG
2×4 and lay it on the finished asphalt and check for low spots.

.
Hmm, how soon before a pursuer of emergency medical
transport vehicles, files a lawsuit after an injury accident ? ? ?
.
Lets have a naming contest, my entry, “The concord Mogul “

diversity is the cuplrit here

oops,culprit..

Yes, it should be fixed! What were the Concord planners thinking? If this was just poor construction, the company should have been forced to repair their crappy work. I’m sure they’ll refuse now that it’s been a year. If, for some reason, this was intentional, the planners should find another line of work. Just making that turn from a stop makes the vehicle feel like it will roll.

I’m not sure who’s picking the city contractors. I watched them beautifully complete the pavement at Treat at Cowell, only to dig it up in parts to do who knows what. Here’s a thought: Why not do all the underground work BEFORE you lay the final pavement?

if you dont know the bump is there and youre in a hurry you could damage your car.I forget, and get airborne when going that direction because i rarely drive on Oakmead.

A flyover should be constructed to divert traffic so that the road crew can safely and leisurely take the time to do the job correctly this time.
