Martinez Refining Company To Restart Refinery Process Units – Flaring Expected

City of Martinez Alert: TheĀ Martinez Refining Company notified the City that on April 3, they will be restarting some of their refinery process units that were uninvolved in the fire on February 1. They anticipate the restart process will take approximately two weeks, during which there will be a potential for intermittent flaring.

Contra Costa Health HazmatĀ provides anĀ opt-in systemĀ for text and e-mail notification ofĀ Level 1 incidents, which include flaring lasting longer than 20 minutes. Opt-in by texting “CCHEALTH” to the number 21423. Standard message and data rates may apply, and message frequency varies.

Given extent of damage in area affected by fire, it’s gonna be
awhile until it’s back online. Fire rebuilds are expensive.
Will actual events leading to cause of fire be revealed to the public ? ? ?
We’ll have to wait-n-see.

From what I heard from a guy that was there when it happened was that some pipe that was supposed to be shut off wasn’t. They opened it up and then the fire happened.

There was another fire and injury last night – assume they were working on the re-start …. hmmmm maybe a real issue there
