ALERT: Lights Out, Offramp Closed! Driver Hits Traffic Signal On Contra Costa Blvd. Near Target

A driver struck a traffic signal on Contra Costa Blvd at the I-680 on/offramp (across from Target) in Pleasant Hill this afternoon. Traffic signals in the area are out, so use caution, and stay away from that area if possible. The Concord Ave exit on southbound I-680 is closed. People are being asked to use the Willow Pass Rd. exit.

Thanks to Jessica Lewis for the photo.

Traffic signal, lousy hood ornament.
Important thing is no fire hydrants were harmed.

Ouch – that’s a busy intersection!
I hope they get it fixed soon.

once again….”you can’t park there”

Looking at the damage to the car, it appears the driver may have been going too fast for the conditions.

Good thing I was reading the internet on my cellphone(Claycord.com specifically) while driving around, so I was able to avoid this intersection. 😜

Maybe the problem is cars are too easy to drive now.
A new car feels like a video game almost.
Get rid of power steering. That’s my solution.

I’ve only owned one car without power steering. It was a 1984 VW GTi and that car was so much fun to drive hard. It’d hang the inside tire if you took a corner fast enough. It’s more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow.

The driver should read the “distracted driving” article.
