No… they will add a lot of fat and salt and artificial flavors so it tastes good.

Audio to text with some intelligence, seems good. Does it try to upsell you? Like, “you should really get an extra side with that order, can I add one for you/” 🙂

They asked for it, now they have it. I’m talking about the fast food employees who were demanding higher wages. It’s unfortunate that some people cannot see any further than
the tip of their nose, they lack the capacity to think ahead and foresee the consequences
of their actions, and now they are being replaced by AI. Fast food employment was never meant to be a lifelong career, it was mostly for high school kids working part-time. Grown
adults who were lacking in education moved in a took those jobs away from the kids, and because they were not the brightest bulb on the chandelier, they actually believed they
couldn’t be replaced. While they are unemployed, they can spend that time going back to school and learn something that will be beneficial to them in their job search.
Precisely! My first job at (two weeks before) my 16th birthday was 24 hrs a week at “training wage.” At 6 months I got “minimum wage” all through high school. I didn’t even expect a raise during those two years.
I learned everything I would ever need to know about personal professional appearance, punctuality, customer awareness and care, AND how to manage my money! It was a fair deal.
That’s thinking like a Democrat. Demand changes without considering the consequences, and then act like it’s such a big surprise! Defund the police, reduce the penalty for crime, hire public defenders to be DAs, and the list goes on and on!
It’s not about making a career, a lot of women work in these places earning extra income to support their families. People fill the jobs that are available and sometimes the only options are fast food places.

Jokes on them i dont eat junk food!
but this should be better than trying to hear someone talk through that junk speaker.
But this is America where we eat junk food and cant even get our obese butts out of our cars to walk the 10-20feet to the restaurant entrance and order our burgers and fries.
is this because of the $20 wage increase? We wanted $20 an hour so now we lost those jobs to AI?

Our politicians are amateur economists who don’t understand or really know economics. Raising wages by laws doesn’t solve economic problems and instead as shown above make things worse. One needs to just look at life in the 1950s and 60s when the minimum wage was way less but didn’t get in people’s lifestyle and standard of living.

My first thought is what legislation will greasy, or his successor (God help us, not kammy) demand be passed to punish the fast food joints for not hiring actual individuals? I can see them charging a state “fee” for every transaction that uses AI or automation, or start an AI union (that donates to dems). Of course, there will be exceptions, like Panera. Perhaps kammy will provide a carve out an exception for liquor establishments. (Apologies, that last comment was in poor taste, and I am seriously considering retracting it, to make it unburdened by what has been).

I don’t like talking to machines.
It’s bad enough on the phone when I can’t get a live person to talk to and I pretty much quit going to any of the fast food places anyway because I just refuse to pay $15.00 for a crappy fast food lunch, much less be treated with so little respect that a business won’t even pay a live worker to assist me.
When those Stepford wife type robots are finally made real lifelike I’m buying the non-talking model.
Abandon…And find another place to live. My wife is 68 (born and raised in CA) and I’ve lived here since 1986. CA has lost it’s luster. We’re about 5 months away from cutting all ties to this once “Great” State (we are both professional workers). They’ve taken a State of prosperity, promise, and equal opportunity and turned it into a political statement geared to fuel the far left. If you are mid stream in your politics….you are lost and ignored. Good luck with the long term success in the great social/economic/political/taxed environment the politicians have created for California.

I predict that AI drive through will be as useful as self checkout at supermarkets; not many people want to use it. It is hard to translate voice into words because pitch and tone. Imagine a Mexican order a “yambo yack” at jack in the box, I doubt AI will pick it up as “jumbo Jack”.
Can’t be any worse than the people taking orders right now. What did you expect when fast-food pay went up to $20 per hour? The restaurants are mostly empty now, even at lunch time! I have occasionally gone into Carl’s Jr on Ygnacio around lunchtime and there’s no one there. I always wonder how they stay open. Do you suppose Newsom will want to tax AI?
People out of work for being greedy, low-income and stupid about it….~~~ and Blackrock, Vanguard and JP Morgan/Chase laughing their butts off. Another win for the big guy.

Y’all are talking so much smack about service workers, sitting in your glass houses. AI is coming for ALL your jobs, not just fast food. In-N-Out has been paying its employees well over minimum-wage for decades and had no trouble staying in business. You’re pointing the finger at the wrong people. I work as a high level manager and the owner is already forcing us to use AI for daily tasks. Half of what I do at my job is being forced into AI. We’re heading down a dangerous path because the world is apparently full of people who would rather others have-not. One day you (or if you’re retired, your kids) are going to be jobless. Congratulations.

Does it ask you to specify your preferred language… Press 1 Press 2 etc?
Drive-thru food outlets will become one big cash-less vending machine, dispensing horrible, stale, tasteless food.
No… they will add a lot of fat and salt and artificial flavors so it tastes good.

A predictable result of artificially manipulating the market.
