Many of the elevated fire hazards (now vs older reviews) are due to city & county non-native tree and brush growth (especially eucalyptus trees). After meeting with the CCC Fire Marshall I learned they cannot require cities to remove the trees or brush unless it’s an extreme risk – they can only recommend that it be done. But in my experience over the last 3 yrs – the city of WC won’t move on it despite asserting they have a “plan” for removal. In 3 yrs+, in meeting with the mayor, city staff, and the CCC fire marshal – nothing has been done.
