The following is from the Concord Police Department K9 Association:
It is with great sadness that we share the passing of retired K9 FARUK. K9 FARUK started his career in 2014 and was certified as a dual purpose K9. K9 FARUK was a very successful drug detection dog that led to many arrests. K9 FARUK retired in 2018 and spent the rest of his life with his best friend and handler. Rest easy K9 FARUK
Thank you for your service. You made our streets safer.
Thank you for not calling him ‘Officer’ FARUK.
It’d be cool to be certified ‘dual purpose‘ though.
A K9 is considered an officer! Condolences to his handler and CPD
Can’t swear an oath, can’t be an officer.
Atticus Thraxx,

The vast majority of government employees, especially peace officers, have never read or don’t understand what they’ve taken an oath to, or why they’ve taken an oath. They all severely lack training when it comes to their oaths, and too many government employees simply treat their oaths as being meaningless and as nothing but an employment requirement. The number of public employees who don’t understand that they’re the “public servants,” and not the “public overlords” that they think they are is absolutely astonishing.
