As a kid, we would ride our bikes to Thrifty, get a triple scoop, and then ride over to Heather Farms and play all day. I think it was 10 cents for a single, 15 for a double, and a whopping 20 cents for a triple.

Rite-Aid near Lunardi’s in the Palos Verdes Plaza still has an “ice cream bar” …. well, sort of …. Prices aren’t what we were used to though

15 cents for one scoop
30 cents for two scoops
45 cents for three scoops
Nope, there is much better brands with much better taste than Thrifty ice cream. You get what you pay for and we sure don’t mind paying for the good stuff.

Such great memories of walking to Thrifty at Bailey and Clayton barefoot in the summertime for a cone and some pinball. Back then it was 5 cents, 10 cents, and 15 cents. Choice of regular cone or sugar cone. Always went with chocolate chip mint on a sugar cone. Then we’d hit TG&Y to load up on candy and whatever 45 record was popular at the time…played on KFRC with Dr. Don Rose. Good memories of a simpler life.
Brings back good memories…

In the 60’s, it was 5, 10 and 15 cents.
The mint chip was my favorite! Yum yum!

CHS. Grew up on Wilson Lane near Bailey Road. A long, long time ago…
Is it soft serve like thrifty cones were?
I wonder if they’ll also sell that unique Thifty scooper, where everything is a flat cylinder.
I actually happen to have one.
Amazon sells a cylindrical ice cream scooper, it even has the Thrifty name on the packaging!
