QUESTION: The State of Maryland is about to pass a bill that would allow people to place condoms and other birth control in vending machines in public schools (K-12). Do you think public schools, including elementary schools, should be allowed to place birth control and condoms in vending machines?

Talk about it.

Looking to spend tax windfalls on anything they can. How much does this increase my property taxes? STOP STEALING MY MONEY! I’m sick of these fools constantly dipping into my pockets for every little wish they have

Says “vending machines” so it’s not free and wouldn’t increase property taxes.

how much do the machines cost???? and is it subsidized by the state?

Go to your local bar and ask them. My bet that the sales of the condoms would also cover the cost of the machines. Otherwise it’s a bad business model.

That bet would also be a bad business model.

You really think that’s how this works? No, the machine costs money, probably 10-1000x what it should. Then a no bid contract goes to some friend or family contractor approved by the state to install for countless thousands and a 50 cent condom costs the state 190 bucks by the time some kid pays a quarter for it. And yes my property taxes pay for local schools. Matter of fact, I have multiple properties I’m taxed on so I don’t appreciate these games. When you have a house paid off and you still pay taxes, it’s a problem. How many other items do you continually pay taxes on after you buy them? None

Yes!!!! Those debaucherous kindergarteners are the most promiscuous kids on the
planet.
(Of course, I am being facetious.)

I can see it now, second-graders blowing them up like a balloon, rubbing them on their hair
to give them a quick static electrical charge, and sticking them in the classroom ceiling.

Some kids that age are sexually active . Providing condoms reduces risk of unwanted pregnancy. Better than more abortions.

You gotta be kidding!!! kindergarteners are only sexually active if they are directed to be by sombody post pubescent! Lets give out free Tampons while we are at it!

I know some junior colleges have the condom vending machine in the restrooms

Last time I saw one was out a lonely College in Fremont but that was back in 1994.

I’m not sure if junior colleges still have those condom vending machine

I do not think condoms vending machine at Public Schools especially High School is a good idea depending where do venue machine is are they thinking of installing tham in restrooms if so they’re not going to make any money off of it it just going to get broken because students will just vandalize it

No, school is for learning. If you want to be sexually active, go to the drug store and buy condoms or see your physician for prescription. You can keep your **** in your pants from the hours of 8:00 am until 3:00 pm.

Since when is it the schools business to dispense birth control/condoms? Teach them how to read!

no to vending machine. On the contrary, we should provide free condom and safe sex advice for the horny teenagers so they don’t get pregnant or STDs. And we should keep abortion as an option just in case the condom fail.

what the hell is wrong with what Paul said????? You go to planned parenthood you get free condoms???? Yes I get it that it should not be part of your curriculum but until there is some self control (a lost art) how do you fix this??? suggestions????

So they can go to planned parenthood. SCHOOL IS FOR EDUCATION, NOT SEXUAL EXPERIMENTATION.

No. This is a slippery slope…next these ‘harm reduction’ vending machines start providing other supplies such as Narcan, sterile injection equipment, and Plan B pills. Children should be innocent for as long as they can and not be groomed to grow up with these machines in their public school bathrooms.

Why not let 7-11 advertise in the schools that they sell condoms, maybe have them sponsor a sports team in exchange for being able to advertise on school grounds. No cost to anyone, but some $ to the school. Govt never thinks this way.

So how many here knew fellow classmates in high school who had to drop out because of teen pregnancy? Bet you forgot about that.
.
When I was in high school one friend and his girl friend had to drop out due to that. I laughingly told my mother about it and she raged. That was one time I forgot to do some math like when my sister was born and when my parents were married.

Captain Bebops,
.
There’s no longer a reason to drop out of high school due teen pregnancy or teen parenthood. The MDUSD has offered a program for many years to keep teen mothers in school. Many other school districts offer the same types of programs.
.
When I was in high school the teen parents all stayed in school, they didn’t drop out. The teen mothers stayed in school up until giving birth and would return to school about 2 weeks after giving birth.

Bad idea… only going to promote more sex – and more STDs

What is it with those knuckleheads in Maryland?
Leave kids alone.
You’ve made it clear that abortion is your preferred method of birth control, so why bother with condoms?
Leave kids alone; trust their parents to provide guidance regarding products.

I would venture those machines would remain operational all of 25 minutes in many of the schools, before being vandalized, tipped over or emptied of its contents. Is the expectation a 13 year old will say to his 12 year old date, “wait, let me buy a rubber at lunch, for use after school.?” Or is this to make them available for those between classes excursions? I find no reason whatsoever to install condom dispensaries in a high school, cannot even imagine for K-8th grade.

Eugenics movement, alive and well.

Kids are going to have sex regardless
.
Abortion prevention . . . . what a concept.
Would cut into a democrat’s favorite entity’ that sold baby parts.

At Concord High School in the mid 70’s you could buy pot,
LSD, mushrooms, Cocaine and Crank.
Everything is relative.

And you can still buy that stuff at Concord High or any other high school in the Bay…but not from a vending machine.

With the cooperation of the school and paid for by taxpayers?

When I was in high school I took a friend to the free clinic in Pleasant Hill to be checked for an STD (it was negative) but I noticed they had a big bowl of FREE condoms.
I grabbed a handful and sold them for $1 each at high school then went and got some more…. I considered it a public service.
All the guys had one in their wallet.
So now, finally… the schools have ’em available on campus (stole my idea).
I wonder what the Superintendent’s cut is?

What a joke. It’s all about good
Put a vending machine full of fentanyl too. 🙁

Disgusting.

Condoms for our 1st and 2nd graders. Wow … who comes up with crap? Who in their right mind would think a 7 year old needs a condom and birth control?

I personally hate the idea for it to be in a high school as well, but in an elementary school – what kind of sicko do you need to be?

Last I checked, sex with someone under 18 was considered stautory rape. So are the schools in Maryland aiding a crime? I am not a lawyer by any means, but I am curious if it is technically true?

You got it all wrong parent…. it’s to keep the teachers from getting pregnant.
