The following letter is from Congressman Mark DeSaulnier:
Over the past month, the Administration, led by unelected billionaire and DOGE head Elon Musk, has made a flurry of dangerous, and often unconstitutional, executive actions that have destabilized our government and the programs tens of millions of Americans rely on, upended the lives of millions of federal workers, and targeted vulnerable communities like immigrants and LGBTQ+ individuals. Meanwhile, the Administration has done nothing to drive down costs for American families.
I know that people are scared and angry at what seems like the president testing the waters to get unlimited and unbridled power, and whether you have contacted my office or attended one of our town halls this past month, I have taken to heart your concerns and deeply appreciate your engagement.
But I want you to know we are not powerless – While Democrats are in the minority in both chambers of Congress, we have had a great deal of success in blocking the Trump agenda through court action and despite a lack of action by House Republicans, Congress still has the power of the purse and is the only entity that can pass laws. So far, judges have halted many of the Administration’s efforts by keeping federal workers in their jobs, unfreezing billions of dollars in grants, and preserving birthright citizenship.
I wanted to share with you some of the work my office has been doing this past month to serve the people of California’s 10th District and combat the worst of the President’s agenda. You have my word that I will not stop fighting against the cruel, foolish, unconstitutional, and un-American actions of this Administration. If we can ever be of assistance to you or your family, please do not hesitate to contact my office.

Trump is delivering chaos. Instead of trying to trim government excess in a systematic rational way, Musk is just doing slash and burn, in many cases throwing out the baby with the bath water. So far he had not delivered on gas prices, they are up quite a bit, eggs are still expensive, that is if you can find egg, Trader Joe’s is out, Grocery Outlet have a well stocked egg supplies, and their prices are down. Last time I bought 18 eggs for 11.99 medium size, which is pretty small, yesterday I was able to get 12 extra large eggs for $7.49, got off subject, sorry. I’m not blaming Trump for the price of eggs, but many blamed Biden for the price of eggs. I think Trump’s stand on Ukraine is scarry, of course they did not start the war, Russia did.

Egg prices are high because Biden had 100 million chickens killed before he left office. Prices will come down only after all those chickens are replaced.
Gas prices are going down except in Newsom’s California, where prices will probably never stop increasing.

As noted, there was an Avian Flu outbreak, and millions of chickens were killed. Had nothing to do with Biden, or Trump. I don’t think you all understand that as Trump takes expanded power, future presidents will as well. And as far right as policies are heading, which is not good, a Democrat can swing left.
Our democracy works best when policies remain at the center of the spectrum. If you were upset with Biden’s policies, those will appear more centrist with future Democrat leadership.
That’s a good classroom explanation and viewpoint. However, what’s going on in the real world is that the president is reacting to the extreme damage done by the past democrat actions.

What expounded power has the current POTUS used that are not afforded his office under the Constitutional?
President Trump issued an executive order tightening control over traditionally independent U.S. government agencies, including the Federal Election Commission and the Securities and Exchange Commission. This order allows the White House to influence the budgets and policies of these entities, which is an unprecedented power grab and potential constitutional overreach.
Or another way of saying it is, he is acting within the frame work of the Constitution, you just don’t like it.
If and when a Federal Judge issues a permanent injunction you will have a valid point.
Until then it is just a fear of change.
There are currently three injunctions. I’m just saying
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Programs – A federal judge blocked enforcement of Trump’s executive orders restricting DEI programs.
Birthright Citizenship – Multiple federal judges issued preliminary injunctions against Trump’s order attempting to end birthright citizenship.
Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) – Legal challenges have been filed against Trump’s attempts to defund the CFPB, with opposition from 23 attorneys general.
Independent government agencies? Where is that in the Constitution? If you’re a government agency you should be under the purview of one of the three branches. Are you arguing differently?

Or is EO on birthright citizenship? Federal courts are blocking or pausing some initiatives, such as the attempt to end birthright citizenship, because the executive does not have the power to do all the things he is trying to accomplish.
I have probably forgotten more about the Constitution than you ever knew. So we can keep going with evidence-based discussion, or I can dare you to stay in your lane.
I hope that the Dems policies skew even more left and make Slow Joe’s policies look centrist. They will never win another national election if they try that.

If kids were actually educated, more of them would skip college. Instead, they are brainwashed that the path to prosperity is a degree. As a result, many end up in debt, far into middle age, and if they start families, it is not until later in life.

I think after this administration, the policies of the next liberal administration will move far more to the left. Which I think is a bad idea. What we see now is not good for our democracy. But, it is the price we pay. We have spent $50 per year on each student to expand STEM education. We are spending .05 on civics education.

What and who are the Democrats now? And apparently you do not either. The constitution is the founding document of this country and it has been amended numerous times since its adoption. As we have grown as a country, we have learned that we need to expand or explain it to meet modern events.
Ending birthright citizenship is a great thing as it meets the actual intention of the constitution. Unfortunately people have taken advantage of the liberal wording and therefore we need someone to help drive home the intention – see back when it was created we did not have such stupid people who want to leach off of society.
