Suspect Arrested After Shots Fired In Walnut Creek

Walnut Creek Police Arrest Attempted Homicide Suspect

On February 18, 2025, at approximately 7:18PM, the Walnut Creek Police Department responded to the report of shots fired on the 100 block of Sierra Drive. Responding Officers arrived on scene and determined the suspect, who has been identified by police as 43 year old Melvin Kibbee, had already fled the area.

The Walnut Creek Police Department apprehended the suspect in the early morning hours of February 19 and he was subsequently booked at the Martinez Detention Facility where he is currently being held on $600,000 bail. The investigation revealed the suspect and the victim were known to each other. No one was injured in the incident and there are no outstanding suspects.

Is he the son of Roger Reece Kibbee, “The I-5 Strangler” who was also from Walnut Creek and who was killed in prison, by strangulation? Wow!
