A man was robbed at gunpoint while pumping gas at the Exxon gas station at East and Willow Pass Rd. in Concord on Monday night at 7 p.m., according to the Concord Police Department. The suspect is a black male adult, about 5’10” wearing black sweats and a black hooded sweatshirt. The suspect was in a white Infiniti with modified exhaust. The loss was a $26,000 Cartier watch. Police are currently on scene.

Back in the 1970’s while working graveyard in South Richmond, we heard this suspect’s description night after night on our police scanner. He must be really old by now.
I hope he’s insured. Can you spot a very expensive watch while pumping gas at night? Was he followed?
Well this is criminal friendly California.

Before we get to impressed …actual cash value is under $500…..that’s how overpriced they are.
Unfortunately We live in a time where people would just rather take then work for it , glad nobody got hurt , hopefully that watch is insured
Well…. let’s hope the watch was insured for full value and that the victim can really use the money right about now! I’m lucky nobody has ever stolen my car, there’s a priceless Van Gough painting in the trunk!

That station is near many good Concord businesses, including restaurants. Are you saying that no one should go to a movie and have dinner in our beautiful city? It’s right down the street from a high school and a hospital, for goodness’ sake.

A watch like that is jewelry instead of just a means of telling time. I quit wearing any kind of watch when I retired, and that suits me fine. However, I am disgusted at how many people feel entitled to tell other people how they should, or should not, spend their own money.
Insurance scam? Unless not all details are being described (a possibility), this is a rather generic description of the suspect, and curious there was no info on the license plate of the car, not even a digit. If not a scam (this is an ugly word, this “scam”), I hope the victim has at least a receipt to prove purchase.

I witnessed the exact same type of robbery of a very expensive watch, only the victim was getting his hair cut at the time. I knew something was fishy when 2 black guys double parked and walked in to the salon with masks and hoodies on. Less than a minute later they are running back to the car and smashed off. Then 2-3 people from the salon came running out to get a plate but these guys had no plates.
I have to laugh. Description of victim says he has a modified muffler on his car. Just drawing attention to himself. I don’t like loud cars or stealing so it’s a toss up with this one. Moral of story don’t be a show off.
