It seems learning a European (2nd) language is no longer important for Children in USA. Dual learning Spanish/American English is pretty much a ‘must’ in California, Texas and a few other states. But what is approaching rapidly while we aren’t paying attention? ~~~
We were so happy when MDUSD decided to reopen Holbrook Elementary, an award winning school, chopped because North Concord was older/less represented than the rest of the District.
We were told that as a Language Academy “several” languages would be offered.
That promise lasted about as long as a decent rainy season in Concord. So the “Academy” became a magnate as a Spanish/English Language school, with a few English-language neighborhood students learning Spanish.
But that may change if our school board, who does the hiring, and assistant Director of the MDUSD Language Dept has her way.
Not a World language, Not French, Not Italian, Not Russian or even Mandarin… but FARSI ~~ learning to speak Iranian language and the requisite culture of the language? (without some indoctrination?) That’s the future in USA?

Learning any other language is OK. Great, actually. We need to be able to carry out Trade and Negotiations around the World. But, the language of Iran is certainly not a World Leadership language. At least not until we allow it to become that.

To the extent I could even follow that, it occurred to me you may have a fiber-poor diet.
