The residents of Concord shouldn’t have to pay $85.00 per person or $800.00 for a table of 10 in order to attend the State of the City address by the Mayor of Concord. The way the State of the City address is being presented makes it a corporate/small business event and not a governmental function.

True. Council is always claiming we have to shift policy to accommodate the underprivileged but they don’t care that lower income families and homeless may not have the funds to attend this government event or access to the internet to watch a replay. Sending a hypocritical message here.

Sorry but she looks a little nuts. These people need to be careful about the publicity pictures they issue. Or maybe she is nuts.

Captain Bebops,
.
This isn’t Concord Mayor Carlyn Obringer’s “publicly photo,” but rather, this is her official City of Concord – Concord City Council photo.

It’s still a publicity photo. However back in the 1990s I worked with many Bay Area politicians and the impression was often “naive”.

I happen to know her personally and can attest that I have not met many people with such a huge heart for her community as she has. I’ve gone door to door with her myself, checking in on the welfare of Concord families. Her passion for helping single parents, elderly, low income families, children, etc, is truly inspiring!

$85 to listen to the mayor of Concord? Either the mayor is Pearl Jam or it’s a money laundering scheme

YEEEEAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWNNNNNN

She knocked on my door once but never came back.

It must have been something I said.

With all respect, do you expect her to visit multiple times? How would she have time to lead well if she’s spending all her time knocking on every door in Concord for the 2nd time lol

The mayor is making a positive effort in serving the community. That in itself is standing tall.

I have been to 2 events (oddly enough, both on the same day) where she gave a small, well, speech. Found her to be nice, and well spoken, and I was appreciative of the fact she did this. No idea about anything else on her skills/talents related to city management, but at least there is some civic acumen she has exemplified.
