A repair project on Oak Park Boulevard in Pleasant Hill has begun this week. The City has hired JD Partners Concrete to perform concrete repairs on the Oak Park Boulevard/680 Overpass between January 7 – January 10, 2025.

The project will consist of repairs to concrete surface damage to ensure the ongoing safety and integrity of the bridge structure.

Traffic control measures will be in place during the work. Traffic delays or temporary lane closures may occur. Motorists and pedestrians are urged to remain alert and exercise caution when passing through the work zone.

I remember back in the 70s my parents sitting in their car under that overpass and a jumper jumped off the bridge killing himself right on the hood of their car the police were already there trying to talk him out of it and had traffic stopped and as a guy laid on the crumpled Hood the police said you need to stay here while we investigate and I remember the cops being told what’s to investigate some old guy jumped off the overpass onto the hood of our car.

How’d that work out for them? Did they just decide to drive off with the body on the hood of their car like a hood ornament?

I’m sure the last thought the jumper had on his was down was, I sure hope I don’t inconvenience those people and their little tater tot.

After he hit the hood and windshield he slid down already deceased off the side of the fender and onto the ground, he was an older guy from a close by assisted living place and apparently wanted to get to the top of the overpass and jump onto the freeway but that’s as far as he got what he ran out of steam and just did it right there. It was sad I was a young kid and see the dead guy on the hood of the car sliding off right in front of me

Thank Goodness the work will be completed by the 10th. On Jan. 20th those same three women who protested Trumps Inauguration in 2017 can come back and wave their signs again.
