Party City is closing.

The New Jersey-based retailer, which had more than 850 locations globally as of August this year, will shutter all its stores after running out of money to stay in operation, according to the New York Post.

Barry Litwin, the company’s chief executive officer, told corporate employees on Friday that Party City is “winding down” operations immediately and that today will be their last day of employment, the Post reported.

Too bad but not surprised …. inventory was spotty at best …… personally I prefer the brick & mortar for stuff like they had but got light on inventory the last few years

Personally I prefer Amazon, the hell with brick and mortar stores.

Bought some things here occassionally when i needed something last minute for partys. They will be missed as brick and mortar but Amazon will pick up the slack just with higher prices and slower delivery that i cant get when i want right away at a store.

Sad to see but thats business if you cant adapt

This is one of those niche stores, that I didn’t realize was still in business. I thought it had already closed. While it’s nice to visit once in a while, you can get the same items elsehwhere and likely for less. I’m sure the pandemic played a role, as have dollar stores, and online shopping.

First time I’ve ever heard of them.
Or I just didn’t notice
because a store dedicated to party supplies
is a terrible idea.
