Spare The Air Alert Issued For Friday December 20

A spare the air alert has been issued in the Bay Area for Friday Dec.20.

About Spare the Air Alerts:

From November through February, the Air District will call a Spare the Air Alert when fine particle pollution is expected to build up to unhealthy levels. This usually takes place on cold, calm days when wood smoke from people’s fireplaces and wood stoves gets trapped close to the ground.

A Spare the Air Alert for fine particle pollution can also be called outside the winter months, especially when there are wildfires impacting the Bay Area.

On days when a Spare the Air Alert is in effect due to high levels of fine particle pollution, it is illegal to burn wood, fire logs, pellets, or other solid fuels in fireplaces, wood stoves, outdoor fire pits, and other wood-burning devices.

There are everyday behavior changes, such as taking public transit, carpooling, or biking, that can improve air quality year round. These actions are particularly important on days when a Spare the Air Alert is called.

Yes, let me take public transit to work. I’d love to spend 2+ hours each way when I could drive there in under 20 minutes. That sounds like a wonderful idea and I’m going to do it tomorrow. I could also carpool with the person that lives by me that has a totally different schedule. I don’t own a bike and I’m lazy, so that’s not happening.

These recommendations are so damn stupid.

Well, folks here don’t care much for the Air District and will fire up their barbecues to salute. Seems that government these days is self-serving rather than serving the people.

I think more people know about this than are saying. I’m saying it. I have photo documentation of the skies over my home in Concord dating back to 2009 showing trails, grids, halos. The govt has been using weather modification for decades. So I’ll get back to ya on that air sparing thing.

No. I guess they didn’t hear, Trump won, this is MAGA country. Did they really say “it’s illegal”? In no way are they any type of authority. Now I’ll be burning wood from now until next year. Come and get me. Guess again commies

Air Quality is 71 this morning. Are the freeways open? Are they holding flights until the air improves? Did they close the ports down? Are the BBQ places open today? The answer is yes to all of these but let’s have a big government agency tell people not to have a fire. They make it seem as if every house with a fireplace uses it all the time. How many in reality? This agency seems to make these announcements like, look at us were here to keep everyone safe and healthy! We are here for a purpose, aren’t you glad they pay us to do this stuff. It’s pretty gross, I question the need for them, we have the EPA.
