All California workers will have a little more money withheld from their paychecks starting in January 2025 because of a small tax increase quietly approved by state officials to provide more money to the state’s disability insurance program, according to KCRA3.

Somehow we managed to do this to ourselves. Somehow. Look at transparentcaliforniaDOTcom. Pick a department. Already very juicy salaries… and most of them double or even triple their “salary” via plumped up benefits, etc. Disgraceful! Robbery! “What do you mean we have to drop by the office to pick up messages a couple times a week? STRIKE! WALKOUT! We are underpaid and abused!”
If we weren’t a sanctuary state- paying for millions of illegals and Gavin promising to do everything he can to fight to keep them here and pay for healthcare- food stamps housing and down payments for them to buy houses and lawyers for all of them – schooling- ect. And he is planning on charging us money per mile that we drive by installing gps trackers in every car to make sure he can get every cent from us – we already pay for tolls ect- and what about the build back better bill? Wasn’t that supposed to fix our roads ect? And Gavin is planning on another gas tax – 60€ a gallon because too many electric cars so they aren’t collecting as much from current gas tax- we pay the most taxes in the u.s. already. Wth? And the only way they will listen is if we hit them in their wallet- if we all didnt work for one day just one day statewide walkout they might get the picture-we again would loose a day wages but they would loose all our tax money for a day – and if we have to pay more taxes NO ONE in government in California should get any type of bonus or raise period. Just a few things I’ve noticed.
Think about it. Why is he trying so hard to keep them here? Why on earth would anybody in their right mind keep throwing money into something like that? Building an army?

This is exactly why people cheat on their taxes and will continue to cheat on their taxes more than ever. If the government taxes another $1,000 a year you just cheat on your tax return and get that thousand back, the Neanderthals that run the state of California are too stupid to figure out how to stop people from cheating every time they raise their stupid little taxes inconspicuously.

This is not a new tax, and it shouldn’t surprise anyone that owns a small business. CA hit us small business owners with it 2 years ago. This is as a direct result of the Newsome administration’s lackluster and piss poor management of the Disability Insurance Program (along with every other fiduciary responsibility they have ever had control over) especially during COVID. Let’s not talk about the magical masks from China during COVID. I am part owner in a very small California corporation, and we were notified 2 years ago that our contributions were going up. Why???? As stated in the notice we received, because during COVID, CA just printed checks and gave away that legally “earmarked” money for disability to anyone that could fill out a blank form on the Internet. And, here’s news, it was not in accordance with Federal law. So, the Fed’s said, “Hey, we want our money back that wasn’t distributed in accordance with the Federal law.”
Your Governor’s response…”Sure, we’ll just get it back from those that paid for it in the first place and never received the benefit.” Much easier than getting it back from those that never deserved it in the 1st place. Just how they handle most everything else. Damn it. The State should pay for their own mistakes. Not the small businesses and the tax paying people.
Unless you own a business in CA, you don’t even hear of this, and it makes it easier for the State to make it sound like it’s someone else’s fault. The fault lays with the democratic elected officials in this State that do not take accountability for their actions. Someone voted for this idiot and his cast of clowns.
Frank Sinatra said it best, “Send in the clowns, no wait, they’re already here!” As for my small business, in a few months (after nearly 40 years in the SF Bay area), we’re out to greener pastures, less taxes, and less government control.
By the way, the State Disability Insurance Fund is in much deeper trouble than these small meaures could ever handle (another bit of news you won’t hear about).

It’s so frustrating being robbed by the organized crime syndicate that is the government weather it be federal or state.
Last year I was Making $860 a week and after taxes $700 that’s $160 a week or $640 a month and $7,680 a year and before taxes I made 41,000 after taxes $33,000 then they taxed my Christmas bonus over %40 out of $5,000 I got to keep $2,800 and the government got to take $2,200 they didn’t even wish me a merry Christmas before they screwed me
To repay the 26 billion dollars that Newsome and his people stole. Add tax repay the money.

CA SDI will save your ass when you get hurt and unable to work. No other state provides better disability insurance than CA. Increasing the tax is pennies on paychecks.
Ca SDI has always saved people’s asses, there was no reason to tax even more to cover SDI for people as it’s been covered well enough for as long as I can remember.
Soon enough Ca will revolt against the stupid Dems running it.
Sorry, but that is an ignorant statement. No offense meant. But SDI is employee/employer paid INSURANCE. An insurance FUND that we expect the State Comptroller to handle wisely. It is our employee-owned policy account. Paid for by all of us. To be of benefit to each of us as it is needed. Period.

“California Workers?” “State Disability Act?” Read to me the only workers who see the increase would be state employees referred to as “California workers”. If so, it’s a poorly worded article and news report. As well as maybe why the department will be clarifying things. Usually programs like these only involve such tax increases on the workers who may benefit not the general public.
Way to go, people. Keep voting for those that “quietly” take more and more of your money. But hey…there “D”s and you voted for them, so keep that support for them going as they pick your pocket.
I say we the people of California should call for an impeachment of Gavin Newsom and everyone in his administration now. Don’t wait til 2026 to get him out of office and out of California for good.
