QUESTION: Do you think Contra Costa County needs another homeless shelter? If so, where should it be located?
Talk about it….
I believe that we are headed in that direction.
whatever locations are not picked for the housing locations in Concord they should be considered
for the unhoused.
With Gavin running in 2028 maybe he will accept
all those that are undocumented.
Maybe, just maybe he will accept all of those from
Gaza as well.
Is this sarcasm? if not that cool aid must be strong
Gross.
Lzk,
.
It’s not Concord’s responsibility to house the homeless of Contra Costa County, just as it’s not Concord’s responsibility to provide for the affordable housing needs of the entire San Francisco Bay Area, yet, the rest of Contra Costa County seems to believe it is Concord’s responsibility to house the homeless and the other San Francisco Bay Area cities and counties seem to believe it is Concord’s responsibility to provide for the affordable housing needs of the entire bay area because we have the CNWS property to develop. Concord isn’t the dumping ground for everything the rest of Contra Costa County and San Francisco Bay Area governments and residents don’t want. Concord has already provided and has plans to provide for more than our fair share of homeless housing and affordable housing.
.
I’m guessing your statement about, “whatever locations are not picked for the housing locations in Concord, they should be considered for the unhoused,” refers to the locations in East Concord, Southeast Concord, and South Concord currently being considered for high-density housing zoning. Do you understand private property rights and that this is only a rezoning of certain selected property locations in these areas of Concord and doesn’t at all mean that anything will be built on these properties, unless that is the direction the property owners of these selected properties choose to go?
.
So, you have Governor Gavin Newsom running for president in 2028 and think that “With Gavin running in 2028 maybe he will accept those that are undocumented,” and “Maybe, just maybe he will accept all of those from Gaza as well.” What does that even mean??? What is it that you think a possible 2028 presidential primary candidate and/or a possible 2028 presidential general election candidate who’ll “accept” illegal aliens and “maybe will accept all those from Gaza” will be able to do? A presidential candidate has absolutely no power and only has a past record and words to offer about a vision of and for the future, words which may offer some value or no value at all! I actually don’t understand why you’re bringing up illegal aliens and residents of the Gaza Strip in 2028, four years in the future, in a discussion about possibly adding an additional homeless shelter in Contra Costa County, when we have absolutely no idea what the conditions in the United States will be in 2028.
seek guidance oh lost one…..
Another one? I don’t know, how many does the county already have? For the unfortunates
that have become homeless through no fault of their own, especially families with children, and want their normal life back, and as long as they are legally American residents, or citizens, I think they should be entitled to all the help we can give them, and we can use the money that’s going towards the illegal invaders that deserve absolutely nothing from honest American taxpayers.
As for the homeless that are wasted on drugs and booze 24/7, and are leaving behind litter, poop, vomit, and pee stains all over, they deserve nothing also. As long as addicts are being coddled, they will never change their lifestyle.
Lots of illegal immigrants apply and get all of the tax payer funded financial help while working under the table = no taxes to pay. They also like to live large; they shop, go out, dine-out, travel, thanks to the money they are saving from not paying taxes and from getting lots of $$$ in hand outs. They laugh all the way to the bank while having an entitled attitude. Yeah, but they don’t speak English.
Yes because of the increase in the homeless population. We should put it near the concord/clayton border (preferably a long the bus route 10 so they can commute to bart and into Clayton)
Paul, why do you assume the homeless population wants to go to Clayton? What do you think they’ll want to do there? Play pickleball?
Paul,
.
The best place to put a new homeless shelter is as close to your home as is absolutely possible.
No, Alameda County is working out just fine
why not just invite them here from every state by asking these questions.
No! ….taxpayers are bled too much as it is for our ill spent $$ …. CA spends more per homeless than any other state & Newscum is still “inviting” the nations homeless to come here
Are other shelters full?
This would depend on how the current ones are occupied.
any data here?
No we need work programs where people earn their keep! Given someone something free only makes them dependent.
They don’t work. Homeless shelters do not work. To house people like these, you need to put them in contained city camps with oversite, working for their stay. But they should not mingle with the outside world and they will never be able to be productive without being micromanaged.
Yes, but should only be for people who were raised in Contra Costa. We do not want the county to be a magnet for homeless from other parts of the state or country.
We need to relocate people to less expensive areas and states and countries too if possible. It’s already too crowded here
SAMMY,
.
Other states aren’t going to willingly take on California’s problem homeless population at further cost to themselves.
Does Contra Costa County actually need another homeless shelter? Are our current shelters full, over crowded, or have vacancies? Will those homeless individuals currently not using our homeless shelters use a new shelter if available or will they choose to stay on the street?
No. Start stocking these people near gavvy’s $9,000,000 recently purchased home (by his wife’s LLC). He seems eager to use other people’s money, let’s no longer deflect consequences/ramifications from his decisions.
Yes we need more homeless shelters.
Location recommendation:
Mars.
Or Gilligan’s island.
Alcatraz seems ideal.
Well , Newscum claims that California has the world’s 5th largest economy….so I would suggest that all homeless people be relocated to the ho es of every Democrat politician. In e their homes are filled up, then the remainder be placed in the homes of whoever voted for the democrat politicians.
Those voters elected the dem politicians, so they evidently approve of their actions. I would also suggest that they also be placed in the homes of thumbs-down voters.
