Mount Diablo Beacon To Be Lit Saturday In Remembrance Of Pearl Harbor Attack

A beacon of remembrance – the beacon atop Mount Diablo – will be lit tomorrow to honor those who died in the attack on Pearl Harbor 83 years ago.

Originally, the beacon lighted the way for commercial airplanes in the 1920s. After Pearl Harbor, it was doused.

The beacon shone again as a tribute to Pearl Harbor survivors on Dec. 7, 1964, when the practice of lighting it every year on that date began.

…. what would it take to have them leave it on more often? PG&E can donate the power

Leave the light on more often? For what purpose?
That would reduce the significance of the lights for honoring & remembrance of the attack on Pearl Harbor.

Dr Jelly.
I thought the same, but my wife said the prayer below, and a reason to keep it shining (perpetual light) always, without reducing the significance (to me) would be for:
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord,
and let Your perpetual light shine upon them.
May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed
rest in peace.
Amen.

Beautiful to see. Somber for the reason for shining the beacon.

Let it go. Time to move on. We nuked two of their cities.
We won. 🇺🇸🇯🇵

Well… yeah, but they started it!
