If you cross the bridges in the Bay Area, expect to pay more starting Jan.1.

The toll will increase to $8 on Jan.1 on all bridges except the Golden Gate, which is currently $9.25.

Thank you Willie Brown. His delaying of replacing the Bay Bridge section lead to this. It should have been done by the early 1990s when it would have cost far less and not required paid off bridges to restore their toll plazas. Krazy Kalifornia, should we call these Lexus Bridges? 😀
.
PS: of course this isn’t the only calamity he blessed us with…

The toll hikes are just more taxes in disguise. The money will be used to create more toll lanes on highways which is another name for more taxes.

And the cheaters don’t pay, yes you can buy sticky numbers/letters that match exactly as on the plates and cameras can’t see them. Rather brilliant took a lot of trial and error but they do work.

I view this as a use tax, a high one, but a use tax. I would be curious on the accounting of the revenue generated by FastTrack/CA tollways, and then how it is squandered. I agree with what Doh said, look out for more toll lanes; eventually, that toll will be for road use, not just car pool use. Drive down 680 at 9:00 AM for only $13 dollars from Olympic to Alcosta….I suspect only 5-10 years from that.

It’s not for bridge maintenance – it’s funding more pet projects by the bureaucrats … let voters decide after having an independent audit of how toll $$ is spent? They would never let it happen

Used to cross the bridge to Benicia, to go to a fantastic bakery and some good restaurants there. The parasitic Democrat California government stopped that. Way to go government. Bleed taxpayers and crush local small businesses.

I’m not sure, but was a voter approved hike?
