KSFO Radio changed this week from 560 AM to 810 AM.

The move makes KSFO one of the strongest radio stations in the Western United States. On 560, KSFO was 5,000 watts, and on 810, they’ll now broadcast with 50,000 watts, which is the highest power permitted for AM stations by the Federal Communications Commission.

Some of the talk shows featured on KSFO include Armstrong & Getty, Dan Bongino, Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, Howard Jarvis, Dave Ramsey, Ben Shapiro, Kristy Graham, and Fix California with John Phillips.

That’s the old KGO station freq.
I miss KGO News Talk 81.
I wish KSFO well on 810.

I miss KGO, when they had Ronn Owens, Gene Burns and John Rothmann they were great. Loved Gene Burns and Rothmann as well. However, pretty much all the hosts were great. The late Pete Wilson was good, he was replaced with Gill Gross, he had great insights into politics, but sometimes he just talked too much. I listen to Dave Ramsey, so when I left work last night I turned on 810, but they had some kind of sports program on. I then turned KSFO on, and the Dave Ramsey was on there, but the reception for 560 is not good in this area, especially at night.

I listen online in the background most of the time… in print…Just a day’s worth of headlines… That’ll wake ya up!

It can’t hold a candle to KGO in it’s hay day. First of all, it is all syndicated. Back when Barbara Simpson was on, I would listen to her, she was very conservative, but she had some interesting shows, and she did local issue off and on. Now there is no talk radio in this area that talk about local issues.

810 is rebroadcasting 560 right now most of the time right now. They were runing different programming for an hour. Sounded like a left over program from the Sports betting network that hadn’t been deleted for some unknown reason.

That’s probably a “tune out” which stations have used for years when they change format. When I was in high school a station went from pop rock music to jazz for a couple weeks before it changed to news, talk.

Bongino~~ too hot for the watts …….or something 😁

I used to keep my radio at work tuned to KGO. Ronn Owens always had a wide variety of guests and topics. I liked Jim Eason, but Pete Wilson was probably my favorite daytime personality, but Len Tillem was very entertaining. I usually didn’t listen at night, but I appreciated Duane Garrett’s show when I could. For all his demons, and there were plenty, he had an unmatched understanding of California politics.

I miss lee Rodgers and bill wattenburg.

I liked them, too, but didn’t hear them often.

I started listening to Jim Eason on KGO in the afternoons while I was working from home. I have been a life long conservative ever since.

I liked Pete Wilson, however Gen Burns and John Rothmann were always my favorites. When Gene got into a disagreement with someone no one could match him. He usually won. He had great intellect. He is missed.

So what, I have a computer I have a smart phone. However, when I’m driving I listen to either AM news or talk radio. or music on FM. I have portable radio, and what I like about it is I have preset stations on it, so I can switch back and forth between stations in an instant, can’t do that on the phone.

What the hell who said we’re talking about phones in this conversation?

Gee, that is a strong response to my reply. I mentioned phones because younger people often listen to podcasts on their phones. AM radio is the only stations that have local news and or hosts. 1530 in Sacramento have a local former sheriff’s I believe who has a 1 hour show at 3 p.m. Tom Sullivan who now is syndicated nationwide, came from that station where he was on from noon to 3 p.m.

So KGO Sports betting radio went over like a lead balloon.
Glad to see KSFO taking over.
Don’t forget “The sound of the city, the sound that are heard in San Francisco”

ksfo I remember listening to it as a kid at night in the 70s – Al Jazzbo Collins, The Comedy Hour, CBS Radio Mystery Theater.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater was on KCBS with American Airlines as the advertiser and Dave Mcalhatan as host. Also Music Till Dawn …

I go back to the days of Ira Blue broadcasting from the Hungry I on Jackson St and then moving to the Crown Room at the Fairmont Tower. Dr. Dean Edell. The Lawyer. Jim Eason. Rothmann. Barbara Simpson. Jim Dunbar. Art Finlay. Ted Wygant. Those were the days. All on a small transistor radio.

Sounds like they’re courting bad luck.KSFO’s been 560 since the stone age
