Did a family survey and we cut back on nothing at all.

Nothing, if I need or want something, I buy it. I’m far from being rich,
but it’s only money and I can’t take it with me, so I may as well spend it.
I paid off my home a long time ago, and after I retired I paid off my credit
cards, so now the only bills I have are phone and utilities. I have a little
more money to spend, and even though I don’t like the higher cost of
everything, at least I’m able to pay for it.
Kind of the same here.
House & Auto are another thing on our list.

I go dining out about 50% less, use food trucks instead. After I paid $28 for one sirloin steak at the grocery store, I pretty much quit getting that anymore. To me, when stuff gets expensive so fast it’s not fun anymore.
What food trucks are you spending money at that are that much cheaper than restaurants?

Dining out and red meat. We eat so much less red meat now that it is crazy expensive. Also we really try to use less air/heat/power due to the scumbag criminals PG&E
I’m with you. The real Scumbags are California Utility Comission and CARB.

Cutting way back on eating out, and heating/ cooling the house too much.
Frankly, for two of us to eat breakfast out with tip is coming close to $50, which is ridiculous! We can go to Trader Joe’s and buy 2-days worth of nice meals for that. At home we close off a room or two from HVAC and keep the thermostat at barely warm in the winter and barely cool at the summer. Can’t have more of those $700 surprise PG&E bills! Things have really deteriorated in the last 4 years and we’re having a harder time getting by for the first time. So, you ca guess who we voted for! We’re doing the ‘Trump dance’ now!

Oh I’ve been corrected, we cut out all the stupid news outlets. Now I hear the new stupid weather term “bomb cyclone” wtf is that another made up nonsense term for rain and wind for the USA.
There is nothing worse than watching the stupid weather forecasters anywhere on any channel trying to put a spin on their weather report.

We haven’t been hit hard by inflation given our dual income. What’s killing us, however, is our PG&E bills. My wife works from home, so the AC is used all summer and the heat is used all winter, albeit as sparingly as possible. Our monthly PG&E bills are infuriating.

Bought a new Cadillac instead of a new Mercedes.
Does that count?
I hope you’re right Badged One. The 400 Series MB I test drove was mouth watering,
but I couldn’t justify the extra $13k.
Plus I’ve owned a Mercedes before but I’ve never owned a Cadillac,
seemed time.
Happy so far. Still haven’t gone through all the technology thoroughly,
still have some buttons I don’t know what they do. 🤔
I know it all

What is insulting is that inflation isn’t the culprit, it’s the stores and companies that have kept their prices high. I travel overseas quite a bit and believe me we have it much better than many other countries in Europe Asia and especially South America
What??? I read your comment and was confused! If prices are higher overseas as you state, that can be caused by VAT and other Taxes. How does that equate to “infation isn’t the culprit, it’s the stores and companies that have kept their prices high.” Inflation causes prices to rise. Companies can “free ride” on price increases to improve their profit margin, but their competitors will keep them from doing that. The Real answer is more competition = Lower Prices, less competition = higher prices.
So let me get what you are saying. It’s just like Joe and Kamala said it’s not Inflation it’s Price Gouging!
I also assume you failed High School Economics. It’s simple “Supply & Demand” wher the curves intersect is the Market Clearing Price. But Joe, Kamala, & you don’t get it.

12 pack of soda. At $10 or $11, the cost is ridiculous. Many stores aren’t offering the true cost unless you buy multiple packs, meaning you’re getting screwed if you just buy one 12 pack. Target is about the only store that consistently charges $7. I recently noticed that Lucky is now only offering you a discount on soda if you use their mobile app. Safeway already does that. So now you HAVE to use the mobile app to save on anything.
Too force people to use a mobile app for discounts is very “woke” and ignorant. The senior execs at these companies have ignorantly bought into some false “global warming” science. Next thing we’ll know is they will want us to watch TV on the phone instead of our large panel TVs. Enjoy your football game on the phone! 8-|
Not Really, They want you to use the App so they can gather more information about you, and sell that info. Rember if the app is “free” you are the product. If you don’t wamt to be tracked, don’t shop there! But our choices are narrowing as more retailers merge.
I know about mobile apps, I’ve been developing them since 1998. It’s just that expecting people to jump on them so soon as well as using “digital only” sales fliers is a little too soon. I guess the space cadets couldn’t wait for the rocket to take off. 😀
WinCo carries Shasta soft drinks for about four bucks a 12 pack.

Perhaps dining out less than before, and inflation may play a part in that, both inflation in the cost of eating out, and the inflation of the number representing waist size on my jeans. That can be said about red meat as well, probably a bit of both examples of inflation has led to reduction of red meat.

You will actually be happier with the Cadillac. They are far more dependable than a Mercedes, contrary to what people think.

I’m saying that inflation has impacted people overseas more than the USA now, our inflation is currently the lowest of the G7 nations
Check the records, it’s been that way since the end of WWII. The Dollar is the Reserve Currancy of the World.
