Mt. Diablo Resource Recovery announced the launch of its innovative Zero Emission Hydrogen Truck Pilot Program, a significant step towards
revolutionizing sustainable transportation that furthers its commitment to modern technologies in the waste and recycling industry.

As part of Mt. Diablo Resource Recovery’s ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship, technological advancement, and attainment of California’s Advanced Clean Fleet requirements, this pilot program aims to demonstrate the feasibility and efficiency of hydrogen as a viable
alternative to conventional diesel fuel, providing a zero-emission solution for heavy-duty transportation.

This pilot program is made possible through strategic collaborations with Hyzon and New Way Trucks. The program will be tested on routes in Concord, Pittsburg, Oakley, Rio Vista and some parts of unincorporated Contra Costa.

“We are relentless about innovation to transform the way we manage waste and recycling to maximize our environmental and financial performance,” said Kish Rajan, CEO of Mt. Diablo Resource Recovery. “This pilot program is yet another example of what sets MDRR apart.”

Where do they fill up? Seemingly only one Hydrogen station in the East Bay

The Hydrogen is made from Natural Gas so there’s a loss right there. Why are we Wasting our money on this???

1)Happy to say these trucks are MADE IN AMERICA! 2)Hydrogen fuel cells for electricity are still in infant stage, and have a great future use. 3) Hydrogen could…’can’ be made by separating the O from the H in ordinary water.😮…! Yaaaaay! And they spew water… not carbon monoxide.
The down side: Just like every thing else… they wear out and have to be securely disposed of…. they’re working on that.
What we need is more-better interested and educated youth to find all the solutions.
AND Fuel Cells are portable…. take it with you to the next job site… Imagine that. Such as– take it out onto the OIL RIG to power the drills with clean electricity …instead of smokey dirty diesel power.

It takes a LOT of electricity to break water into oxygen and hydrogen. Of course we have a lot of excess electricity available on the grid…………NOT!

Depending on the production used it may or may not be totally zero emission, yes it’s water vapor out the tailpipe but producing it may and probably isn’t zero emissions

Just like EV vehicles they might be zero emissions with no tailpipe but what it takes to put those batteries together it’s about as dirty as you can get emissions wise then disposing of those batteries when they’re used up is a nightmare it is very bad.

Yes. It certainly needs more work. I was reading about hydrogen fuel cells … Check out Flipping the Barrel … Nathan Ough’s Volta Grid. Imagine every City, maybe even get it down to neighborhoods, having its own self-reliant electrical mini-grid.
It’s a dream…maybe a long way off. But wow!

Read about the Toyota Mirai! The cost of refuelling it at one of only 60 some odd stations only available in California has gone up up UP since introduction and now they are uneconomical to run.
