Contra Costa County Public Works To Perform Road Work In Contra Costa Centre

Contra Costa County Public Works will apply pavement surface treatment on various residential roads in the Contra Costa Centre area. Work will begin on Thursday, October 24, 2024, and continue through Friday, November 29, 2024, barring unforeseen circumstances. Work will occur between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday (excluding holidays), weather permitting.

Traffic control will be used with restrictions in place to minimize impacts during commuting hours. Message boards will alert drivers about the work. Subject to the curing time, roadways may be closed for up to 6 hours before reopening. Nighttime work is anticipated along Treat Boulevard and Buskirk Avenue. Drivers should expect delays through the work area and consider alternative routes during working hours.

The project is intended to improve existing roadways and extend the lifespan of the County roadway network. Funding for this project is provided by Gas Tax (SB1 Road Repair and Accountability Act). For more information regarding this work, including a list of the impacted streets, visit: www.contracosta.ca.gov/2023CountywideSurfaceTreatmentProject.

I hope they do a better job than they did at Monument and Cowell. They created a backlog of traffic. There was plenty of space for larger lanes and a better right turn. There was more emphasis on things (that were OK), but they forgot the MAJOR users were Cars.

Thanks for the heads up but couldn’t they have done this over the summer when kids are out of school and traffic less? Morning traffic has parents taking kids to class in the many schools around there
