The following is from the City of Clayton:
The City of Clayton is pleased to announce the appointment of Kris Lofthus as its new City Manager. Lofthus, who brings with him over 20 years of public sector experience, officially assumed his role on September 16, 2024. The City Council and staff are excited to work alongside Lofthus as he leads Clayton into a new chapter of growth, community engagement, and innovation.
Mayor Jim Diaz expressed enthusiasm about the appointment, saying, “Kris Lofthus stood out during the selection process because of his demonstrated leadership, strong vision for community development, and proven ability to engage with citizens in meaningful ways. We believe his experience and passion make him the perfect fit to guide Clayton as we continue to thrive as a vibrant, close-knit community.”
Lofthus comes to Clayton from serving as the Deputy City Manager in Suisun, CA, where he played a pivotal role in improving community services, advancing infrastructure projects, and building strong partnerships between local government and residents. His background in finance, capital projects, community engagement, staff development, negotiations, facility management, and public works makes him well-equipped to navigate Clayton’s unique challenges while fostering a sense of unity and progress.
Upon accepting the position, Lofthus said, “I’m honored to join the City of Clayton and excited to collaborate with the City Council, staff, and residents to continue making Clayton an exceptional place to live, work, and visit. I look forward to building on the city’s strengths and working towards a future of sustainable growth and enhanced community services.”
Lofthus is committed to maintaining open lines of communication with the community and ensuring that Clayton’s residents have a voice in the city’s future. His leadership will focus on continuing Clayton’s legacy of thoughtful urban planning while addressing emerging needs with innovative solutions.
A public meet-and-greet with Kris Lofthus will be held at 6:00 p. m. on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at Hoyer Hall, where residents will have the opportunity to connect with their new City Manager and discuss their visions and hopes for the city.
Needs to be explained to him Clayton does NOT want or need multi story high density housing and size of our town is just right. Looked at aerial view of Suisun and saw new sections of residential housing with houses crammed onto very small lots with almost no back yards and what looks like 14 – 16 feet between houses.
That is the LAST thing Clayton needs ! ! !
My Parents moved from Pittsburg over 60 years ago because the saw what a nice little city Clayton is.
.
Home values are higher than cities like antioch and we want it to stay that way.
Hope Mr. Lofthus doesn’t screw up, good thing we the residents of Clayton have.
ORIGINAL G,

It doesn’t matter what the residents of the City of Clayton need or want when it comes to high-density housing and it doesn’t matter what is explained to Clayton City Manager Kris Loftus about high-density housing, because high-density housing is coming to the City of Clayton. High-density housing is coming to ALL California cities and counties, including the City of Clayton, whether it’s wanted by residents or not. High-density housing is being mandated by the State of California, and almost all City Managers, City Councilmembers, and County Supervisors in California’s cities and counties don’t have the political will to push back against these state mandates, and/or are unwilling to vote against these mandates and unwilling to spend city or county money to fight these mandates in court, and/or are unwilling to sacrafice their future political careers to fight against the Democratic Party political machine in Sacramento that is pushing these high-density mandates on the people of California.
.
If you want someone to blame, then look no further than the lying, cheating, corrupt, preacher, former Concord City Councilmember, current Assemblymember, and our next State Senator, Tim Grayson. It’s been Assemblymember Tim Grayson and his “Yes In My Backyard” or “YIMBY” cohorts in the California State Legislature who’ve forced these high-density housing mandates on California’s cities and counties!!! You have the opportunity to kick Assemblymember Tim Grayson to the curb in his State Senate race this November.
They left out the word”equity” are they feeling ok?
Looks like he ruined one town, now time to move on and do it somewhere else.?Why?Why wouldnt you stay in the area you just”fixed up”?
