Spare the Air Alert Extended Through Sunday, Oct. 6

Another Spare the Air alert has been issued in the Bay Area for today, Sunday, October 6.

Concentrations of ground-level ozone pollution are forecast to continue to be unhealthy. High levels of ozone pollution are harmful to breathe, especially for young children, seniors and those with respiratory and heart conditions. Protect your health by avoiding outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day.

You can help improve air quality by working remotely, taking transit, walking or biking, and by driving less every day.

Since we need to spare the air, I suggest the following:
1) All politicians be quiet … your hot air is not helping
2) All politicians, do not talk … blowing smoke does not help the environment, or people.
3) All unregulated wanna be govermental agencies (ie, Bay Area Air Quality … whatever they are called) just dont say a thing … we don’t listen to you anyways.
4) You want people to take public transportation, make it ALL free on spare the air days. All public transportation corporations should not charge a dime – they can collect. The politicians can pay for it out of their wineries … You can also reduce the pay for these non government agencies to help cover the cost.
5) No government official should be allowed to ride/drive in anything other than a vehicle that runs completely on electric power and is charged only by solar/wind/water.

You want us to change … set the example. Till then, smoke while you go them (tires and grills).

The area where politicians will really be hitting us in the pocketbooks are our homes. There are politician enacted rules becoming active in the next couple of years about water heaters, and heating/cooling that will force us to go 100% electric and force us to install upgraded electrical service. The bulk, maybe 90%, of the housing in this area are mid century marvels that don’t have the electric capacity for the future being imposed by politicians.

Of course the East Bay especially around here has microclimates. One can walk a block in my neighborhood and go through as many as 4 of them. There is usually a breeze on even the hottest days to make the walk tolerable.
