The Contra Costa County Office of Racial Equity and Social Justice (ORESJ) is announcing a funding opportunity to increase and expand safety, health, and well-being in African American communities in Contra Costa County.

ORESJ is seeking proposal submissions from local non-profit organizations that are providing critical services that increase and expand wellness, safety, and healing to people in local African American communities. The County will be awarding up to $880,000 in one-time grants to community-based service organizations to augment and expand existing services or programs by increasing capacity (e.g. serving more participants, hosting additional events, extending program periods). Ideal applicants are those that are: embedded in, led by, and have a history of serving African American communities; bring an innovative, culturally relevant service delivery approach; center equity in their programs and practices; and fill significant service gaps in the County’s most impacted African American communities.

The priority service/program categories to be funded are:

  • Behavioral health supports
  • Food and/or housing insecurity services
  • Maternal and infant health services
  • Youth development support services
  • Community healing supports, particularly from trauma due to police violence

Applications are due by 5 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31 and must be submitted to admin@oresj.cccounty.us.

It’s not racial equity unless it’s offered to ALL races.

Why don’t you fix the roads or lock up criminals instead of wasting taxpayer money on these swindlers?
