High housing costs, mental illness and substance abuse
.
If your monthly income was cut in half,
how many months before becoming unhoused ? ? ?

Addiction (fentanyl, heroin, alcohol, etc.)
Mental Illness
Life circumstances (e.g., housing, unemployment)
Combination of the three above.

24

Drugs ie: Fentanyl & Meth along with alcohol.

Our government leaders paying the homeless by supplying food, shelter, phones, needles and more. This is supported by the fact that we do not enforce the vagrancy, loitering, littering, vandalism or other laws when they are commited by our homeless population.

Right on every point! You just about said it all parent. I would only add…great, survivable weather!

DRUGS
Free stuff.
Don’t feed the bears!

The monetization of the homeless industrial complex. Programs and agencies that try to make it look like they are working toward a solution. Providing cash, cell phones, alcohol, paraphernalia, “shooting galleries” and places to continue abusing substances while getting funded by taxpayer dollars isn’t just a money laundering scam- it ensures that self sustaining supply chain. It also snuffs out those that are genuinely trying to help.

$25B worth. The State of California doesn’t know where it went. It’s the modern day gold rush, a grift of epic proportions and we just look the other way….

Newsom is a shyster

I don’t much care for him myself but serious I’m getting so tired of hearing about everyone blaming newsom. Homelessness has been here since before the man was even born. He didn’t create the issue (no he’s not helping but he is not the reason) can you come up with a more original answer? All of you? Any of you? Or has everyone taken the easy way out to blame every politician? Are you kind to everyone, do you help your fellow man, ever volunteer for anything take the time to listen to anyone that is down on their luck…. I’m no dang princess that’s for certain but I do remember a time when the world would care a little more than they do now. Everyone is in such a hurry to get no where too busy with our own little circle that we care about no one but ourselves. Let’s all stop the insanity and just reach out to one group once a month for a few hours. Raise your kids to be part of the solution not part of the ohhhh mommm look at that lady. Teach your kids by example a little empathy. Make the wold a better place than when you entered it and for God sake quit blaming everyone else. It starts in your own back yard.

Democrats

The common denominator

15
3

Democrat policies. Early releasing of thousands of inmates
with nowhere to go, and allowing millions of illegal invaders
into the state, has contributed to the problem. Soft on crime,
not enforcing the vagrancy laws, and decriminalizing drugs
is another contributing factor. The Dems lie and try to convince
us that they are mentally ill, when in reality, they are not
mentally ill, but severely damaged from over abuse of alcohol
and drugs, which cannot be repaired, the dead brain cells will
never come back.
There are some folks that end up homeless through no fault of
their own, and are not on drugs or alcohol. Those are the
ones that should be getting help.

My first guess is loss of job/money and can’t pay rent.
My second guess is drugs/alcohol/mental illness.
But it’s just a guess.

Out of state mental health and persons with addiction problems coming here because of the Weather and Welfare. They only need an electronic card to receive funds they dont even need a P.O. Box. You dont see this problem where there is no welfare and the weather sux. Think about it. These arent people that just couldn’t afford rent. They cant hold jobs.

‘ ‘I get PAID to be homeless in San Francisco – it takes one phone call’: ‘Old-school junkie’ says he moved to woke city because he gets $620-a-month that pays for his Amazon Prime and Netflix and ‘cops are like neighbors”

Don’t think democrat politicians have ever found a problem they couldn’t throw taxpayer dollars at.

40

I believe it is more like problems they can claim to throw taxpayer dollars at. I question if even 50% of what they claim is for, in this case, the bums, goes toward the problem directly. Like, sudden overhead costs (vigorish) that seem to arise.

Drugs. Drugs. And more drugs, flowing in freely from our wide open border. Period. And until you’ve dealt with the homeless, and not just played a couch referee, your opinion does not matter.

Democrat politicians(and their supporters) who entice career homeless people to come here by giving them lots of free stuff and by allowing them to break laws, threaten public health(think San Francisco), harass people, beg, vandalize and destroy government and private property and more.

12

Housing costs. period.

3
16

Being lazy, stupidity, wanting to abide by no laws, trying to get entitlements any way they can.
I have no sympathy for the homeless I don’t care why they are that way they brought it all on by their own doing but wanna blame society.

Newscum “inviting” the nations homeless to Calif, the unending freebies us taxpayers are on the hook for (isn’t this taxation without representation? … we didn’t have a say in it) ..our lack of leadership in stopping the problem, weak voters, lib Dem Bay Area,. drugs play a part as does alcohol….

15

Greyhound busses.
Cheapest way to get here from all the red states that don’t pamper bums.
California is the great enabler… this state provides everything you need to maintain a feral lifestyle. Offer free cheese & the rats show up… it’s not a mystery.

13
2

People who have drug and mental health issues that lead to them choosing homelessness don’t sleep on the streets of places with winter

The government. They want to drive everyone out of their homes and bankrupt. It’s their feudalist plan to make us their serfs. But if they believe it’s going to work they must’ve flunked history.

We don’t build enough. So much of our housing is stuck in the past. Mildewy 1960s and 1970s houses selling for $1.5M. So much (misplaced) resistance to building new things. It’s caught up with us.

6
13

Compassion. It attracts bums from all over the country.

California Used to be a great state. Now, not so much! What changed? I’ll leave it up to you to decide. But you get what you will put up with.

Drugs , mental health problems , no government help for people who need it and helping those who don’t deserve it. Not enough programs to help short term homelessness. high cost of living , low incomes , high cost of food and other supplies just to live, bills, transportation , etc.

One of the things I learned in business school was that you will always get more of any behavior that you reward.

.
Substance abuse.
