Firefighters have halted forward progress of a vegetation fire Wednesday in Concord just south of state Highway 4.
Cal Fire said the blaze grew to 70 acres.
Contra Costa County Fire Protection District crews were first called to the scene at 1:11 p.m. near Willow Pass and Avila roads.
The National Weather Service said firefighters were contending with winds of up to 24 mph in the area.
