Thanks to our friend @ThatCameraMan707 for the photo above, and the report below on a three-vehicle collision this morning on hwy.242 in Concord.
On 9-7-2024 at approximately 3:22 am calls came in for a 3 vehicle accident with 2 vehicles overturned on their roof on northbound hwy.242 at the hwy.4 split but was found on the southbound side of hwy.242 located in Concord. Upon arrival of emergency crews, 1 vehicle was still on its roof the other vehicle did rollover but landed back on its wheels. Preliminary information was the crash happen on the northbound side of hwy.242 at the hwy.4 split and both vehicles went down the hill and rolled over on the southbound side hwy.242 blocking the 1 and 2 lanes. A total of 3 patients were transported to local hospitals. Injuries of patients rate from minor to moderate. The cause of the crash is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.

I wouldn’t be surprised if someone took that 242N onto 4W on-ramp curve too fast — and went over the top. Since day-one I’ve said they did not bank that curve enough. A person speeding, and who isn’t familiar with it would have to do some good steering control.
Nothing good happens after 2:00 AM.
