Set your alarm, didn’t ya? 😁

He lives in Tennessee so he’s got a 2 hour head start on the rest of us.

Ah! You caught me!
One of our hounds needs medicine twice a day, so my wife has a barking alarm set on her phone for 9:00. So, at bark-o-clock on Friday nights, I give the dog her pill and then check Claycord for Whatever.

Cowellian left town
Now living the good life,
in the country with hounds!

I remember when you were “weighing” the thought of moving. You made the right choice, I think.

No Excuses,
You’re right, but we miss our son and his family, a lot of friends, and the weather.

Someone in Lafayette has been stealing American flags off porches at night.
I wonder if it’ll start happening around here.

Simple solution. Scare the squirt out of them.
There are other devices that use a 12 ga. blank but I’m not sure about local laws.

Got it on Peacock just fine

Just saw an interesting bit from John Stossel on the farce that is plastic recycling. https://rumble.com/v5dw6zp-stossel-plastic-recycling-is-a-dirty-lie.html. I have been big on recycling glass and paper, never really saw the feasibility of plastic recycling.

Jeff (the other one) ~
Thanks for Sharing the Info.
We take plastic bags to Safeway bin.
Beside glass & paper/cardboard, … Aluminum foil and cans for recycle too.

I have always separated out flattened CRV cans, flattened CRV plastic bottles with the caps on, and CRV glass (separating clear and amber). I do it about once a year and get a check for $30 to $50. As the incoming stream is inspected at the recycling place as it’s fed into the hopper and on the conveyor belt the result seems to be fairly high quality streams and not the mixed up streams of garbage, mixed media, and other contaminants that John Stossel was commenting on.

Plastic bags though are a disaster as I, and I’m sure most people, don’t know exactly what it is that the recycling industry is looking for. To keep the bags from blowing around I have always stuffed mine into a plastic bag. Once I get a large basketball of bags I tie that close and toss it into the blue bin. I have no idea if these are of any use downstream as I stuff nearly all plastic bags I’m discarding into the basketball. It’s a mix of the thin filmy plastic that you get at at the produce section, the heavy plastic they sell to you if you chose “plastic” at checkout, the bags that bread comes in, etc. I don’t include crinkly plastic such as for a bag of chips as I know that can’t be recycled.

I have read that the only paper the recycling industry can make productive use of is plain white office paper. Nearly all of the paper we get is colored junk mail. It goes in the blue bin and I have no idea what happens to it.

Has anyone figured out why there are two sets of thumbs up/down below a comment? For example, in this post the first comment is from Cowellian and I see:

I’m wondering why the line with “👍1   👎” is there

Hmmmmm, he said!
I guess sometimes, one thumbs-up just isn’t enough.

Probably an unfinished implementation. Seems there are a lot of features to this edit widget (just right click on the form and select “inspect” — if you know html). There’s even an emoji feature too that’s not yet implemented.

WC RESIDENT,
.
The second set of thumbs up and thumbs down give you a net count of the total, either a positive number, zero, or a negative number, for those who choose to use the second set of thumbs.

Hello everyone!
Just a quick question and a brief comment– Has anyone had their cat’s teeth cleaned professionally by their vet? My dad has a three year old cat and when he was there to get a checkup and shots, the vet recommended a thorough teeth cleaning, which meant the cat would have to go under general anesthesia. The cat has never had dental issues that we have noticed.Long story short, during the cleaning the vet noticed a growth which he (again recommended) a biopsy. I was against this from the beginning, my dad is not wealthy but he has credit cards. Which he used to pay for these services. He has pet insurance which covered $1200 of the $2000 bill. He is 91 years old and has used this vet for many years, but I feel he was taken advantage of. What do you think?

@amie manning~
First, it was kind of good that the growth was discovered, … hope it was negative.
From what I gather, having dog & cat teeth cleaning has been a way to keep an animal healthy.
Some people brush their critters teeth, … training for cats is much harder than dogs.
This helps so cleaning with a Vet isn’t needed, … saves money.
We had a Siamese cat, and by the time she was 4 years old, she had really bad breath.
All most all her teeth were rotten and were pulled.
One thing about having any pet-critter, … it can cost somewhat more now-a-days.

AMIE MANNING,
.
My old vet told me to give my dogs bones to clean their teeth anytime I saw tartar buildup on their teeth or when they had bad breath, which worked fairly well on the back teeth, but not as well on the front teeth. My vet passed away and his practice was sold to a company with about 10 other vet locations in the area. The new vet recommended professional teeth cleaning. One dog had her teeth cleaned and had several teeth extracted, at a cost of $1,400.00, while my other dog had his teeth cleaned at a cost of $800.00. The professional cleanings definitely helped with their breathe and made their teeth look great. It’s been several years since their professional cleanings and I’ve since learned to clean their teeth myself. Both dogs now let me brush their teeth with an electric toothbrush, which has made a huge difference compared to a standard toothbrush, after brushing I also use a charcoal tooth polish, and I use a stainless steel nut picker tool from the 1950s to remove any tartar that I see on their teeth. It’s been several years since their professional teeth cleanings, each time I now visit the vet, he and his assistants look at their teeth almost immediately and are shocked at how good their teeth look given their ages, and tell me to “continue doing whatever your doing to keep their teeth clean.” If you do the brushing at home it’s something that you really need to keep up on and do on a regular basis because the tartar buildup on their teeth happens quickly.

Congratulations to the Ygnacio Valley High School football team breaking a 4 year losing streak. The last game won was in 2019. YV with a win on Friday night at home.

Good morning all!
I’m in the privacy of my own backyard, pulling weeds, picking up toys and dog poop and I hear a humming sound, After a few seconds I see a drone, look at it, trying to process what it is and after what seemed like a minute it flew away. I think it’s the same noise I have been hearing for a few weeks now. Kinda freaking me out. I know which house it’s coming from and my question is should I approach now or wait until it happens again?

ANNIE MANNING,
.
What city do you live in? I believe it’s now illegal to fly drones in Concord.

Respectfully,
a comment on new layout, having mature vision grey against white makes reading difficult.
