The following is from the Clayton Police Department:

On 8/23/2024, at approximately 4:12 pm, officers were dispatched to a residence on Indian Wells Way regarding a female that had been stabbed multiple times. Upon arrival, officers located the victim, whose name is being withheld for confidentiality reasons, in front of the residence. She was alert and able to speak to officers. The suspect was located in the backyard of the residence, and officers were able to take him into custody without incident. The knife was located on a table next to the suspect in the backyard. The victim was taken to the hospital by ambulance and was later released. The suspect, Darius Darabian (37) of Clayton, was medically cleared at a different hospital, and was then booked into the Martinez Detention Facility on the charges of attempted murder and elder abuse. The suspect’s motive is unknown. No further information is being released at this time.

How was he medically cleared? All it took me was less than five minutes to google his name to see that he has had multiple mental health hearings via the contra costa county superior court website. His Facebook profile is littered with post about how he is being tortured, no one cares, death threats. Is it going to take something even more grave to happen for them to finally do something? The people that cleared him need to be held accountable too.

Sad, we do not have mental Institutions that would be able to hold/treat him before he hurts someone.
Yet we, as a society can lock him up (deservedly) after he commits violence .

For those who aren’t old enough to remember..thanks Ronald Regan for closing mental hospitals during your term.

Ok. Then thank every single president since then for not re-opening them. And thank every single family member of these people for not doing better by them.

Reagan has been out of office for 35 years so naturally it’s all his fault.

I am old enough to remember. It was the Carter administration that passed the Mental Health Systems Act that would have provided federal grants to local mental health centers. One year later, Congress, with a Democratic majority in both houses, repealed the act. Reagan agreed with the majority of the Democrats that it would be better to allow the states to control the funding and operations of mental health hospitals.
Reagan did not direct, oversee, or cause any mental health hospital to close.
What caused the hospitals to close in California was when a special task force found that many state run hospitals experienced a dramatic drop in populations, and the cost per capita had skyrocketed. California is a Democrat majority state, they have had over forty years to fix the problem.

You’ve hit on the issue- the states should run mental health because they will
do a better job. There has been plenty of time to get something done at the
state level, but it continues to be Reagan’s fault! We need mental institutions and
prisons built here but it doesn’t happen for political reasons only.

– I’m old enough to remember that Governor Reagan never closed a single hospital. For those interested the following article has a good background of what happened and Reagan’s role. I’ll give you a hint. It was a bi-partisan legislative effort and the “vote” was by drugged out zombies. https://www.ukiahdailyjournal.com/2023/08/19/the-observer-who-closed-mental-health-hospitals-in-california-three-guesses-it-wasnt-reagan/

Take a minute and look up why he closed the hospitals. The ACLU had more to do with the closings than Reagan.

Thanks for bringing up that ancient lie about Reagan. Damn, I’ve heard it so many times. People are so biased they lie constantly. Oh, yeah, next tell me how Biden is the sharpest person in the room and the one about fine people on both sides…Your not doing the country any good with all your BS.

The then democrat controlled congress passed Community Mental Health Act,which was last bill JFK signed into law Oct. 31, 1963. After signed into law congress failed to follow thru with yearly appropriations.
Bill was democrat Knee Jerk reaction to novel published 1962,
One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest
.
democrats decided on ‘deinstitutionalization’, simply pushing it down to local level.

He says people hate him because hes transgender.
His FB page is littered with liberal ridiculousness and that nobody cares when he lives for ftee with his mother at 37,someome must have cared. This is an example of your typical everyday liberal, some hide it,some are exhibitionists.

Them – you mean the cops ? They did a great job. Look at the Courts & the medical people first. The cops are limited as to what they can do. Remember elections have consequences in this county.

He was booked into detention. He wasn’t cleared from consequences.

Well now, CoCo county gets YET ANOTHER chance at providing Mental Health to this individual. Last go around appears not to have worked out so well. When incidents such as this take place, invariably if enough information is brought to light, we learn the individual “is known to law enforcement”. Unfortunately it’s not uncommon that it takes an escalation of violence for ‘the system’ to really make an effort at providing help, as opposed to paper clip warriors merely going thru the motions.
.
Sincerely hope the woman recovers from injuries, physical and mental.
Perhaps young man will get help this time . . . . . . . . . . . . . ?

Not from here, but Clayton sounds like a dangerous place to live

Yep, Regan did close the mental hospitals in Cali and he was a Democrat during those years.

Well, you’re wrong on both counts, but don’t let any facts get in your way. Reagan registered as a Republican in 1962, five years before his eight years serving as Governor – during which he still wasn’t responsible for closing the mental institutions.

Was he related to the victim.?
