QUESTION: Do you think they should widen Willow Pass Rd. between highway 4 and Landana Dr., or at the very least, put a safety divider in the middle of the two lanes?

Talk about it.

.
Install a median barrier with breaks for intersecting streets & driveways… and turn pockets so vehicles remain out of the way.

Widening the road and adding a 3rd/center lane would be a reasonable solution for what you’re talking about. But in all actuality, there’s hardly reason for any deviation along that stretch of road unless they actually do something to develop the surrounding land.

The road is not the problem.

The people who choose to drive recklessly and irresponsibly are the true danger.

WARM KITTY,

The repaving of Willow Pass Road is supposed to be good for 7 years.

Even though they repaved the section, I really don’t like how close the lanes are.
For safety factors, a barrier and wider lanes, … room for pulling over if need be.

What’s wrong with it. It works fine to me.

I am glad they repaved it. – seriuosly thank you.
They should straithen it plus make it 2 lanes both ways with out the bridge/over pass that is outdated and danagerous..

HAMMERHEAD,

They don’t plan on straightening Willow Pass Road, but they instead plan on shifting the straight section of the road between Kinne Bridge and SR4 to the west giving that section of the roadway a curve.

I’m just glad they paved it, so much better

Put a motorcycle cop at the bottom of the Willow Pass exit to ticket the drivers who are using it to cut back onto the freeway in heavy traffic.
The exit should be only for traffic that needs to use Willow Pass Rd.

I agree but instead of a cop they should just change the lanes to either go left or right only. Cameras at the carpool entrance would be good too.

The plans to widen Willow Pass Road to four lanes with the development of the inland portion of the former CNWS already exists. It’ll also have several more traffic signals and intersections added and the north end of Willow Pass Road will be rerouted and shifted to the west. Original plans were to build a new Kinne Bridge, but it now appears the bridge will no longer be rebuilt and will instead be replaced with a four way traffic signal intersection. I think the better plan would be to build a new Kinne Bridge in order to keep traffic moving.

Can you fix the stop lights first. Going down willow pass is red light to red light. Can someone sync the lights. It’s a joke right now.

Make a bypass from olivera rd through open land to hwy4. Close off willow pass from Landana to hwy4. This would keep traffic WAY DOWN in the residential area of willow pass and keep the idiots from taking shortcuts through residential areas. But this won’t happen because city of concord don’t Give-a-sh.tabout the roads here anyway. FIX THE DAM SINKHOLES!

SETMEFREE,

So, you’d rather further increase cut-thru traffic on Olivera Road/East Olivera Road/Farm Bureau Road, Port Chicago Highway, Bailey Road, Clayton Way, Salvio Street, Esperanza Drive, and other residential streets so that residents of Dana Estates and Landana Drive would no longer have to deal with cut-thru traffic.

NIMBY alert.

My vote would be to re route Willow Pass around the homes that back the Naval Weapons Center (San Vicente). This would make a dead end road that would end at basically around where Elwood is. It would totally improve Landana that is used as a cut through, can you imagine it again without the need for speed bumps. Kids being able to safely walk to the neighborhood schools.

I hope you’re ready for increased traffic because development of the former CNWS begins on the east side of Willow Pass Road, behind the west end of Dana Estates.

How about fixing Bailey Rd from Hwy 4 to the residential area? … worse than what Willow Pass was…

Drove it yesterday and was thinking the same thing! It’s in very poor shape.

Since the base is closed there is no real need for the bridge to go over the road below it. Replace the bridge with a wider road.
