QUESTION: Do you think local cities/towns put enough focus on areas outside of downtown, or do you think they need a little more attention?

Talk about it.

Come now, get serious, if they didn’t concentrate their efforts on downtown there wouldn’t be enough people seeing bronze plaques with members city council names on them. example Todos Santos
.
An such a good job on those “roll up” sidewalk location information displays.

Too much focus in some cities at the expense of “deferred maintenance” in the remainder of the city … infrastructure built 50 yrs ago when population was half of what it is now and nothing being done to upgrade to accomodate the growth instead building high rise high density housing that largely is vacant

Some areas need more attention than others. Monument Blvd could use a good cleaning, they can start by rounding up all the illegal invaders and turn them over to ICE. Then round up all the homless, put them on a bus and send them to 6740 Tobia Way, Fair Oaks, CA. There is enough acreage for them to pitch their tents, and they will be out of the public’s view.
In case you’re wondering, 6740 Tobia Way is Gavin Newsom’s address.

Monument blvd needs a tactical nuke strike, what a waste, sad but this is how Oakland starts.

This is public knowledge not paid research

My Congressman Mark de Saulnier was able to get some of the Infrastructure funds for us. My Councilwoman Nakamura shared at a neighborhood meeting about what the City of Concord is doing and what they are trying to encourage landlords to do to improve our city.

I also think the people who occupy the landlords space, and live in the Neighborhood, . Have a LOT to do about the Quality of the City.. Let’s Not forget about them..

I believe that local City Management and City Councils do as they are told by the largest donors to their reelection funds, the democratic central committee, and whoever gives them the most money under the table.

The City of Concord needs to improve Cowell Rd.

It is an abomination and has been for two decades. Shoulders are sparse, no bike lanes, pavement in poor condition, sporadic turn lanes, and slow traffic speed despite being a major thoroughfare. It needs to be 4 lanes the whole way. That’s probably optimistic but just some repaving and shoulder improvements would be a big help.

I prefer they not place additional focus on outside areas so they don’t screw them up the way they have the downtown areas. Just look at downtown Walnut Creek, a perfect example of form over function.

Considering how little the city seems to focus on my area just outside of downtown, yes. Also, they should focus on regulating landlord interference with locally owned and operated businesses. There used to be reason to go to downtown Concord to support small local restaurants and stores. Now what used to be Half Price Books (one of the only long standing retail businesses) has been run out so BofA could have a new location and leave the old empty and rotting. EJ Phair was the one of the first independent restaurants in downtown and sat on it’s corner forever until greedy landlords ran them out so some (presumably meh) self-pour beer place could move in.

If the city is going to get involved with anything around here, make it easier for businesses to stay afloat.
