The “Water Cooler” is a feature on Claycord.com where we ask you a question or provide a topic, and you talk about it.
The “Water Cooler” will be up Monday-Friday at noon.
Today’s question:
QUESTION: Do you currently have or would you ever get a tattoo? If you do have one, do you like it or regret it?
Talk about it.
.
None. I believe they are juvenile and indicate the emotionally weak.
.
Yes I have several and I think judgmental people are emotional weaklings.
they are a red flag for mental illness alert. Only mentally ill people self mutilate themselves and usually because they hate themselves and want to change something about themselves so they use makeup, get tattoos, do drugs whatever to cope with their miserable lives.
None, first, in my youth, my dad said I’d be out of the house if I got any tattoos (not that I wanted any). Second, I could not/cannot see spending any money to do something like that. My personal opinion is that tattoos are hideous and ugly, and, in general, the more tattooed, the more gross I think someone looks. Doesn’t change their personalities, or how I interact with them, just my superficial judgementalism.
No. I think tattoos make you look hard, especially on women. I can’t imagine seeing them on me in my 80s. If other people want them, that’s their business.
None.
Just look at photos of students prior to the 2000s in either elementary, middle school, high school and college years, and almost 99% of them are in good physical shape; have no piercings and or tattoo’s, not to mention, they had much better social skills, less depression and lived healthier lives and acted respectable and with much more decorum. Life was so much better back then; especially prior to the 1990s. Yet, we are told we as society are progressing! Yeah….RIGHT!!!
I guess progressing means getting morbidly obese and looking like total trash and on so many levels. Today, it is shocking just driving down the street or going out to dinner and seeing so many overweight and depraved looking people which seems more and more to be the norm.
Movies such as Idiocracy, Escape From New York, Mad Maxx/Road Warrior and Dawn of the Dead were obviously put out for a good reason. Predictive programming, I suspect. Prescient, huh!?
And we wonder why fiction mimics reality. Today’s society is an absolute mess and getting worse and only in cities and states predominantly run by left-leaning perverts and thieves. And, trust me, I despise all politicians on both sides today, but at least the more conservative states seem to have much more sanity thus their communities and states are much safer, cleaner, not to mention they still advocate and condone those who put God in their lives instead of Satan.
Where did this tirade come from? Lots of negative energy in your life? I am a registered professional engineer (graduated from college in 1984) and I am involved in a very life safety oriented professon. My daughter got her 1st tattoo 14 years ago. I want along with it and had my college logo tastefully done on my upper arm, above the sleeve. She has had many more. She has a masters degree and now has a successful career. So what does that say to your logic?
A masters degree today means she got propagandized more than most and nothing more, Bone Head. The educational system.is merely a cesspool of depravity spewing WOKE agendas to further degrade the youth and society as a whole. Just open your eyes and allow yourself to see the carnage all around you via drug addicts, alcoholics, the homeless encampments, crime, an overweight and disheveled looking populace. What progress, huh!?
None. Never. Fortunately, my children, both of whom are in their mid-30s, have none either.
Tatoos really get under my skin, especially when you see a bueautiful woman and see they have an anchor tatooed on their neck.
One. Very small, as tasteful as possible, in a place where only my wife and I have seen.
And…. the tattoo artist.
Fair point. I believe his dreams are haunted though…
No, didn’t ever want one on my skin.
Just one and it’s been a lifelong source of embarrassment & regret.
In a drunken bachelor party I wound up with some of the already tattooed fellows at a Tat Parlor and passed out.
I woke up some hours later back home with a Saturn V checkerboard stage 1 rocket tattoo on a private appendage… ouch!
It has disrupted more than a few romantic encounters throughout my life…. tho some of the less inhibited gals had fun and made some humorous sound effects blasting off.
There is an amusing video of Ozzy Osbourne describing the time he met Oliver Reed.
It’s in a similar vein.
When I was growing up only “bad” people had tattoos. I’m still not a fan. And 3 straight girlfriends of mine got their first tattoos when we were dating. Karma.
They don’t have the stigma now.
My daughter has a few and so does her spouse.
It’s just the new way of fashion.
None. Would not get one. Tattoo isn’t cheap
No & never will …. even discounting the look of them (good or bad) they’re a health hazard
I want to get a big 3 inch tattoo across my forehead saying “KILL” and complain that I can’t get a job!
Tattoos on women look trashy.
Tramp Stamp!
Not having a tattoo is the new having a tattoo
Many people look like they are wearing the same paisly print shirt every day on their arms, etc. Imagine what they will look like in their 80’s.
I got one on my upper left arm before they became fashionable. I got it when I was in the Marines in the Philippines. It’s a good size tat, about 6 or 7 inches long and about 4 inches wide. I don’t regret it, I don’t even think about it, and it can’t be seen because my shirt sleeve covers it. Would I get one again? I doubt it, I think they are a waste of money.
During war times the men and some women got “palm-sized” tattoos on upper arms of hearts or flags or ribbon tattoos with their wife’s name or “Mom” written across a rose…. It was done to show love and respect THAT, to me was art and even tasteful.
When I see an entire arm or leg of anyone, but especially a young woman, covered in dragons or beasts or even fully covered in flowers ~ or OMG pierced face ~ I gag.
Who do they honor with that? Not themselves!
Fads and Fashions change.
I’m pretty sure the day will come when a young woman won’t be so proud of the dis-respect she has shown to the beauty she was endowed with.
My grandpa had a WW2 Flag and Eagle. Tattoo’s have thier place, I just think they are too common. If you choose to have a tatto across your face and then “blame” others for judging you …. Well I do not know what to tell you.
Just fake tatoos that it
My Hubby & I don’t have any tattoos, and don’t plan on getting any, … just not interested.
Our daughter has 3, but they are feminine looking, … only see them if she goes swimming.
Her hubby retired from the Coast Guards and his few tattoos represents time from there.
I have 4 tattoos. All are in tribute to my sister who passed away unexpectedly. She was a children’s book illustrator. It is tasteful and of her art, and also a quote from RWE she had on her leg which I now have an exact copy of.
Back in the day you were “edgy” if you got a tat. I always thought they were cool but never got one.
Now you see 250 pound grandma’s walking around with calf tattoos.
permanent reminders of temporary insanity? “Hmmm”
I’m getting this quote tattooed on me
No, no tatoos.
I’ll confess I’m old school in that regard. I still think tattoos are low class especially on women!
Used to. Got it when that were unique to have. Had it removed when they became common to have…and I had my son. $$ to apply and $$$ to remove.
I have tattoos and have no regrets
I do not have any tattoos. I have considered getting one in the past but never went through with it. When I wanted one, I didn’t really have the extra money to splurge on something I considered as non-essential. I probably wouldn’t have been able to handle the pain. I even get squeamish getting shots or getting blood drawn. I can imagine having a partially completed tattoo because it hurt too much. I realize now you can get them done in multiple sessions. But I also don’t really have anything exceptionally meaningful I would want on my skin forever and ever.
I actually do enjoy seeing tattoos. They can be beautiful and intricate. But the ones i like the most are ones with a story and even they are meaningful to the person (like Mike’s tribute to his sister, Dawg’s Marine design, or Hammer Head’s grandpa’s WW2 flag and eagle).
I have one fairly large one, in a place where most people will never see it. I got it many years ago, and I have never regretted it. It’s of something that’s meaningful to me, and I don’t really care what anybody else thinks of it, because I got it for ME.
Just got my 15th in July. Yes, I love them all. I’m always happy to share stories when people ask. If you have them, great. If you don’t, that’s fine too. They’re not for everyone.
My Keep on Truckin’ tat is getting a little wrinkled…
No, and would never get one. I’m way too fickle to do something so permanent. Can’t say the same for my daughter, she started to get them when she was over 18 and away at college. so I didn’t have much say. I did try to tell that there’s very little you do as an 18 year old you will like at age 40 (including men, although not totally true, I have sweet memories of the Danish guy I dated when I was 18) anyway she didn’t listen to me. Her dad and stepmom totally flipped out, and when she had to attend her stepsisters wedding, they made her wear a long sleeve blouse, even though it was a hot day!. Now she is over 40, married with 2 children and very responsible and also very prudent financially. I have not asked her if she regrets the tatoos, because I’m pretty sure if she does she will not admit it too me. My son in law have quite a few as well, but they are very family oriented, and handle their life and money quite conservatively, althoug politically they are quite liberal.
Always wanted one. Never got one. Couldn’t decide what I wanted or where to put it, and I was afraid what it would like when I was 40. Now that I’m 68, well…… when I met my 2nd husband, I assumed he’d been in the Navy, since he had a couple. He hadn’t.
It’s just a current fad, and when the fad fizzles out lots of people are going to be stuck with there permanent tattoos.
I’ve been a hiring manager for 30+ years. I won’t hire someone with a facial or a neck tattoo. To me it suggests rebelliousness, poor judgement, bad taste, inability to think long-term/strategically. And it would likely turn off my company’s clients.
I don’t but I genuinely admire the folks who can commit to a design that permanently. I’m pretty sure if I ever did get one I would quickly hate it and regret my choice but I think they look great on a lot of people.
I have one tattoo. Always says ‘De Plane De Plane!’
No, tattoos are a health hazard. News about 2 months ago placed people that had tattoos having a 21% more chance of getting lymphoma. The study said most illnesses were in younger people, under the age of 50, which is unusual because lymphoma is more common in people over the age of 50. The study also said the illness was more frequent in the 1st 2-3 yrs after getting the tattoo. Lymphoma has a good cure rate now, but still is horrid. Horrid might be a bit harsh, but I’ve had lymphoma for 16 yrs, have been treated for it twice, 2 yrs ago, and 16 yrs ago when it was stage 4 and very bad. One of my grand daughters has a tattoo, and I hope no more of them.
Have one tattoo. Also have a body piercing in a hidden spot. But it is now become common. Nothing special or unique.
