With evidence of increased COVID-19 infections throughout the Bay Area, Contra Costa Health (CCH) recommends masking in crowded indoor settings, particularly for those at high risk of serious illness if infected.
This recommendation is not a health order. It aligns with existing state requirements and recent advice issued in neighboring counties.
A particularly infectious strain of COVID-19 is currently spreading throughout the western U.S., and drives the current surge.
I have a recommendation for them
Will wearing a mask protect me from the public health crisis of racism? Do men who have babies need them too? If it spreads through anonymous gay sex like monkeypox -sorry, Mpox!- does that allow us to ignore the warnings and keep going like usual?
The health department has zero credibility anymore. But elites have walled themselves off from feedback and criticism rather than confront this fact. Sooner or later we will need a trusted health institution, and it won’t exist.

Why are posters so triggered by a simple “recommendation” while in “crowded indoor” spaces? No one is forcing anyone to do anything. A friend just recovered from Covid after a trip to Las Vegas. Crowded spaces and airports. An acquaintance in Eureka just recovered after a day at a casino in the area. Not that crowded but touched a lot of machines and people aren’t washing hands and using sanitizers as we did a few years ago. I don’t plan on masking up but I do have asthma so will be using hand sanitizers more often and getting a booster shot.

But me personally, not triggered. Sure, I hear their words, but like Newscum, I ignore it all. 99% of what comes out of Harris, Newscum or our health department is hot air, good for nothing but raising a balloon. I accept the 1% risk that I may miss something important from them, but that risk is mitigated by others that I do listen to.
As for asthma, I have many friends with it. One has been hospitalized numerous times because of it. They do not wait for the Health Dept to provide guidance, they are smart enough to do it on their own.

You can look up mask-mandate states versus non-mandate states during the pandemic, and their infection rates are basically identical. At the population level there is no -none, zero- evidence that masking does a thing. All “The Science” prior to the pandemic had verified this over and over, yet it was reversed by simple decree and with a couple useless studies. Masks are a control device and a security blanket, nothing more.

It’s a comical recommendation, especially given that masks haven’t been mandated in well over two years. I’ve only worn one twice in the last 18 months, both for my eye doctor since they’re the last holdout. I don’t even know where I put my masks anymore…

There are still people wearing masks, even here in Middle Tennessee, and frankly, I think that’s their business and not mine. But I do laugh out loud when I see someone wearing a mask that only covers their mouth but not their nose.
