I have been there just once. They gave me a small wing as one of the 6 pieces of chicken I bought. Not worth my money.

FYI:

Most fast food companies employ corporate programs that require franchisees to refresh their exteriors to stay relevant.

It’s normal.

About the only fast foods that doesn’t are In-n-Out and Chik-Fil- A because their appearances are iconic.

I don’t know how necessary the update is, but we always like El Pollo Loco, and I wish we had one here.

..on Clayton Rd near Treat – in front of Ace

Cowellian is in Tennessee but he used to live here.

Actually, I could see this remodel bringing them more business. The current building looks worn and tired, and like any other older fast food place. The facelift is fresh and can help change the brand image.

Well, heck! That’ll save ‘em!

Glad El Pollo Loco is freshening up their look. There are a couple of shopping centers across the street in dire need of makeovers. When on earth will that happen?

I find the new design with white lettering on a yellow background hard to read. The old one style had better contrast. The switch to a cursive styled font also increases the reading difficulty.

I’m surprised they are getting rid of the mission style shape to the sign. It worked like a badge or icon that makes an outlet instantly recognizable. The Wikipedia article shows two different logos. One that’s used in Mexico and the other in the USA. The founder of the El Pollo Loco chain sold the USA outlets in 1983 and continues to own and operate the ones in Mexico. Both use the mission style badge in the background. Unfortunately, not enough people pay attention to the chain to have tracked and documented a history of the logo as it looks like the Concord store had a version that was between the Mexico and USA layouts and is getting changed to a USA styled version without the badge.

So much for cultural appropriation.

For supposedly having fresh grilled chicken – it seems to always be overdone and had been sitting awhile… and don’t try to order a chicken breast

Never understood why anyone would go there more than once, hard to believe they stay in business…

Updating a business is always a good thing.

They have good chicken tacos. Also pretty good churros.
