There will be two upcoming job fairs next week in the Bay Area for the United States Postal Service — Wednesday at the Willow Glen Post Office at 1750 Meridian Ave. in San Jose and Thursday at 1300 Evans Ave. in San Francisco.
According to data from the California Secretary of State’s Office, 88.6% of voters in the state used mail-in ballots in both the 2024 primary and 2022 general elections, a trend that has risen steadily over the decades. To accommodate that role, the Postal Service has made technological changes, such as informed delivery for tracking ballots. USPS is also boosting its workforce.
“We have many different positions open across the Bay Area anywhere ranging from inside the post office with processing, to outside delivering the mail. And those salaries can range from $18.00 per hour to over $22.00 per hour and beyond,” said USPS spokesperson Kristina Uppal. “We also have some specialized positions in our vehicle maintenance that can be over $30.00 an hour. So, there’s a lot of opportunity.”
Benefits include paid time off, health and life insurance as well as 401k retirement savings plans. Hiring opportunities are across the Bay. Uppal said they are especially looking to hire carriers in San Francisco and South San Francisco.
No experience is needed. The service offers training at all levels and encourages career growth with opportunities to develop into a supervisor or manager role.
“”Why? We have “Drop Boxes” Why Mail Them?
Probably because some folks don’t drive and would rather just put the ballot out to be picked up by the mail carrier (as long as they notice there is something to pick up). There is a drop box nearby so I use it (I still have to drive to it).
you know……
Former President Trump votes by mail. If it’s good enough for him…
Oh good more misdelivered mail from DEI hiring, just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse.
Republican males need not apply.
So in other words they need more people to help the Democrats steal another election how much mail will we find dumped in some Creek somewhere
Mythology.
What will happen to those jobs when mail volume drops off in mid-November? USPS is already losing money.
United States Postal SERVICE is a SERVICE, not a business. Stop thinking of it as a business, it’s an essential service the citizens of the United States pay taxes to have.
USPS does not get taxpayer money. It relies on fees from stamps and other services. (I googled who funds USPS). Even if it used my tax dollars, I wouldn’t want wasteful spending although most government agency do.
Interesting, considering he got rid of a lot of mailboxes and efficient sorting machines during the last election.
Paperless people…. you shouldn’t be getting any mail at all!
1 year now and we’ve opened our mailbox maybe 3 times and only spam garbage.
We don’t need no mail carrier!
