Meals on Wheels in Walnut Creek is looking for a few good doorbells.
“Many of our seniors need doorbells, but can’t afford to purchase one, can’t get to the store, or do not have online shopping knowledge,” the nonprofit said in a statement Tuesday. “Without a doorbell, some seniors are missing their meals because they can’t hear our volunteers at the door.”
The group is asking for people to donate doorbells for them to deliver to seniors in need.
“We are specifically looking for KERUI Wireless Doorbell which can be purchased through Amazon,” the group said.
Donations can be sent directly to Meals on Wheels Diablo Region and delivered to the group’s temporary office space at 2001 North Main St., Suite 300, Walnut Creek, 94596.
Meals on Wheels said they can’t receive packages at their Civic Drive location.
“Thank you for helping us keep our seniors nourished, safe, and independent,” the group said.
Meals on Wheels is one of my favorite charities. In addition to bringing meals, they saved the life of my elderly back fence neighbor by alerting us when she didn’t answer the door.
On behalf of the team here at Meals on Wheels Diablo Region, we appreciate your support! Thank you for the kind words.
Thank you for posting this.
These wireless doorbell sets aren’t expensive. I’ve just donated two. Depending on any ongoing demand, I may donate more.
Thank you so much for your donation! Thanks to tremendous community support, we are quickly reaching our goal. If you care to donate more doorbells, we will happily accept them to distribute to local seniors in need! If you would like to learn more about ways to support seniors in our community, visit the Meals on Wheels Diablo Region website at mowdiabloregion.org.
How many do they need? Would be nice to have a number of the amount needed. They are $9.99 on Amazon right now!
Hi T-REX, Thank you for your interest in donating! We are overwhelmed by the community support we have received over the past few days 🙂 We are hoping to receive 100 (or more!) doorbells to distribute to seniors living in Contra Costa County. I do not have an exact count of the number of doorbells received at this moment, but it sounds like we are well on our way to reaching that goal!
Prairegirl I Agree, Meals On Wheels is Wonderful.
I will be donating 4 Wireless Doorbells
BOCCEGRL, Meals on Wheels Diablo Region appreciates your support! Thank you!
Meals on Wheels food is unhealthy. My uncle was using them and all their food was very salty. After trying it out for a couple of weeks, he ended it and thankfully his neighbor, who was a stay at home mom, prepared his meals which was so much better.
sent 4. Such an easy way to provide even a bit of help.
Just had two sent your way!
